Tell me would you kill to prove you're right?

"Jennifer is everything okay?" Elena
asked softly.

"What?" I responded confused.
I had completely dosed off the conversation.

"I asked if everything is okay." She repeated, looking even more concerned.

The truth was that I was not okay.
I hadn't spoken to Kai in two days. Last time I saw him was when he would go to help Bonnie to get the cure.
When I had asked her she said they all came back safely.

But Kai hadn't returned any of my calls and it was so unlike him to just disappear. I had an awful feeling. Like something really bad was going to happen.

On the contrary everyone else seemed so much more calm and relaxed. Like a weight had been lifted off their shoulders.
I knew they didn't like Kai so I assumed his absence was very convenient for them.

"I am just worried." I said after a while. "Kai has been absent for two days and it's not like him to do that."

Elena adjusted her dress and turned to me, visible awkward.
"Well maybe he wasn't sure about the wedding. Maybe he didn't want to be here today."

But that didn't make sense. Kai was worried about today sure but he wouldn't back out of it. And he certainly wouldn't ghost me like that.

"Yeah maybe..." I mumbled.

"Common light up. We have a wedding in a few hours. We need to be there for Jo and Alaric." Elena said excited while she applied a few finishing touches to her make up.

I sighed and nodded slowly.
I guess I would deal with Kai after the wedding. I just really wanted him here today. I thought maybe if they saw us more officially together they would just accept it eventually.

I took a look at my red dress in the mirror. The bridesmaid dresses did look stunning. Thankfully they were simple but elegant. I knew Kai would approve.

"I guess it's time to go." I smiled softly. I did want to enjoy today and be there for both Alaric and Jo. They were going to start their family really soon and they both deserved happiness.

We walked inside the ceremony room, looking at the crowded place.
I noticed Liv chattering with Tyler. She was too wearing the bright red dress and she looked happy.

"Ι'm gonna go find Damon." Elena said.

I nodded and gave her a smile.

I stood awkwardly looking around the room, trying to find either Bonnie or Care but the place was so crowded it was impossible to find anyone.
The wedding would start soon and all I could think was how much I wished Kai was there.

I couldn't understand why he would leave me like that. We were doing fine and he really didn't seem that nervous about the wedding.

The crowd started sitting at their chairs and I could see Alaric walking towards the centre.
I went and stood besides the other bridesmaids and waited for Jo.

For a few seconds as I was standing I felt a weird cold sense. Like someone briefly stood behind me and then left but no one was there.
I realized that with all that thinking I had started to become paranoid.

My gaze shifted towards the end of the room where Jo had just walked in.
She was absolutely beautiful.

I couldn't help but smile at the sight of her. She was shining with happiness as she walked towards Ric.
I caught a glimpse of Joshua and saw he had slightly teared up.
No matter what my opinion was on him I couldn't deny he deserved a bit of happiness after all the trauma.

Jo stood with Alaric smiling softly at him as the ceremony started.

Everyone looked so happy. Jo and Alaric, Damon couldn't take his eyes off Elena, Stephan has a major crush on Caroline but he thought no one knew, Liv and Tyler... I felt a bit of jealousy. I missed Kai and I really wished he was here today. I couldn't stop thinking why he had disappeared like that.

My train of thoughts got interrupted by a sudden sound.

Jo started gasping suddenly and blood started dripping from her mouth while her wedding dress on her stomach had turned crimson.
My mouth fell open when behind Jo, Kai appeared out of nowhere.

The room filled with horrified screams and panicked voices as the people got up from their sits.
Jo fell on the ground and Alaric caught her in his arms, staring at her in shock unable to do anything but simply hold her tightly.
The rest of the bridesmaids started running away but I felt glued to the ground, holding the flowers tightly in my hands.

Kai was wearing a black suit, his beard has grown a bir and he was staring at Jo's unconscious body with a look I had never seen before.
He was... delighted. I've never seen a more sinister and cold stare on anyone else and I have met a lot of terrible creatures.
At that moment I don't think I had ever become more afraid of someone in my life. Not even Klaus.

Kai's stare moved from Jo to me.
His eyes were empty. But not like he didn't know me. More like I was as dead as Jo for him.

He turned to the crowd and laughed.

The last thing I heard him say was "Did you miss me? "
Then a loud noise and
Everything went black.
