Losing Your Memory ° Kai Parker

Chapter 14



We arrived at the Mystic Falls High School extremely fast, Stephan running like crazy through the whole ride.
The cars that run past us became a fade blur.
We both stayed silent, too afraid to say what was on our minds because we probably both thought of the worst possible scenario.

We stayed at the car for a few minutes not moving. Both preparing for what we would face.

"It will be okay, Jennifer." I didn't know if Stephan was trying to assure me or himself.

I wasn't just afraid for my sister, though. I was afraid of Kai.

He had showed me a completely different face and this... This seemed awfully like the Kai everyone talked about. The kind of person who didn't care who would get hurt as long as he got what he wanted.

"Let's do this." I turned and looked at him. I had to be strong for Elena.

He nodded and we got out of the car.

The cold air hit my face and I squinted my eyes.
We walked over to the back door that led to the gymn. It was usually the one that was open.

"Are you sure they are here?" Stephan asked once we got in.

Well I didn't. I hoped they were.
"He said that they were in a place that we had all been at one point. I thought of The Grill but he wouldn't bring her there. Too many people... so I thought of our high school." I explained.

Stephan frowned, looking around him.
"Let's go find them."

I took a few steps forward but Stephan grabbed my arm and stopped me.
"Stay behind me Jenn. Kai is dangerous." He warned me.

I pressed my lips. I wanted to respond but I decided to take his advice.

Stephan walked in front of me and I followed him. I took the surroundings of my old high school. There had been many times in the past where I had dashed through these corridors in fear. Because someone was trying to kill us. It seemed like a running theme at this point.

I thought of I had more bad memories than good. It was... unfair.

I stopped in my tracks when I heard a scream.
Stephan did too and his worried eyes found mine.

I pointed at the door on our left.
"I think they are the cafeteria." I said with a shaky voice.

Stephan didn't waste time in responding.
We both run to the way I thought I heard the scream. I prayed my sister was okay. I prayed the boy I thought I met was somewhere in Kai.

We took a left turn and there was Kai. He stood perfectly still, smiling like he had just run into us.
"Oh here you are!" He said.

Stephan's eyes became dark.
"Where's Elena?" He growled.

Kai shrugged his shoulders and looked around as if he was trying to find her too.
"Can't see her." He mattered.

"Kai" I pleaded.

His eyes found mine. I expected they would be softer but they were void of emotion.
"What did Jo do? Why can't I find her? What is the plan?" His voice was very calm and that unnerved me. I'd prefer if he was angry. This felt like the calm before the storm.

Neither me nor Stephan answered. I didn't know if we should say anything. Maybe it would be better if we acted like we didn't know.

When we didn't respond Kai chuckled and nodded his head.
"Fine then no Elena."

"Wait no!" I yelled. "Jo has just done a spell so you couldn't locate her. She is simply not ready to do the merge yet." I explained.

Kai tilted his head to the side, watching me for what felt like forever. His lips formed into his usual smirk as he nodded his head.
"I should have guessed."
