The Guardian's Tale (AOT fanfiction)

-First battle-

The Colossal Titan swung his arm across the top of the wall, sweeping every cannon off of the wall. Luckily, Eren and I had jumped just in time and I planted my hooks in the Titan's back to prevent myself from falling. He went for the cannons and the didn't take out the gate by accident either. So he did have intelligence. He tried grabbing Eren and I but in one perfectly synchronized motion, we swung onto his arm. This was the perfect chance ! He was the only one who could destroy the wall. Eren and I went for his nape but as soon as we were about to cut it, he emitted burning hot steam . I detached one of my hooks and went for the kill but when I did, he was gone. I climbed back on top of the wall, shocked.

"EREN ! YUKI ! DID YOU BEAT IT ?!" Thomas asked.

"NO ! I-...It's just like 5 years ago...He suddenly appeared then vanished." I replied, pulling Eren up.

Back at HQ, everyone was scrambling to get their gas and blades. This was it, our very first battle. I silently helped Armin fill his gas as his hands were shaking too much.

He grabbed me and inserted a liquid into my neck.

"You're our only hope. You're the Guardian !" He yelled. "You might not be able to transform fully but you'll have all its power !"

I shook my head. Now was not the time for flashbacks that made no sense. Mikasa pulled me in and gave me a quick hug as she gave me a look that said "stay safe." I nodded and smiled. That was all I could do, I was so scared that I couldn't speak. We then all gathered outside, in the plaza, awaiting to charge to our inevitable doom. I looked around as I saw people either pitying themselves, throwing up or passed out. Mikasa was over at the rearguard and I was supposed to be as well but I argued so much that they put me in the middle guard, with Eren and Armin.

I stood on a rooftop with Armin, Eren, Thomas and Mina. I tied my hair up properly and nodded at Eren. This was it. We weren't going to let humanity lose to Titans any longer.

"SQUAD 34 ! MOVE OUT !" A man from the Garrison ordered.

We nodded and weaved between the houses. When we got to the vanguard, I gasped in shock. That many Titans ? I thought the Garrison took care of most of them.

"ABNORMAL !" I yelled as we all jumped onto a rooftop.

We all watched in horror as the Titan, wrapped around the clock tower, peaked its head with Thomas in its mouth. We froze as we watched it swallow him whole, then walked away from us. Eren, enraged, headed after that Titan and Armin and I followed suit. We couldn't let him get killed. Not over something so god damn stupid. He was stopped as a Titan jumped up and cut off his leg. Shit shit shit no. I sensed something behind me and as I turned around, I saw a Titan reaching for me. I clenched my sword tighter and cut off its fingers, without hesitation, I went for its nape and finished it off. I crouched on a rooftop and swept the area for Armin. I saw him, on his knees, on the roof in front of where Eren was. Not only did I see him, but I saw my friends get eaten one by one. Rage started to built up in my chest as I saw a bearded Titan grab Armin.

"ARMIN !" I yelled as I ran as fast as I could.

I was interrupted when an Abnormal swung his hand and slammed me against a wall. I could feel blood drip down the side of my mouth but I couldn't move. Was this it ? Was I going to die ? The titan slowly picked me up by my jacket and opened its mouth.

"Yuki...Kirei. You promised to fight remember ? "

As I looked over at the voice, I saw the faint shape of my brother, reaching for me. Every part of my body ached and I felt like every single bone had broken. But my brother was right. I promised to fight and so I would. I sliced the Titan's hand and shot my hooks into its back. I felt my whole body get hotter and hotter until eventually I could see flames form around me. My mind clouded with rage, I killed the Titan and the flames vanished. Thinking it was just an illusion, I jumped onto a roof but as soon as I did, pain shot through my right ankle. God damn thing it was busted again. I felt an arm wrap around me and hold me up. When I looked beside me. I saw Connie and I smiled. However, that smile quickly faded when I realized something.

"A-Armin...We have to go get him." I said before leading him to Armin. "A-Armin....?" I asked as I saw him, clear horror plastered on his face.

When Connie asked him where Eren was, he burst into tears. Yelling to himself to die. Ymir who was standing behind us made it obvious. Eren died....just like the rest of our comrades. Armin went to meet with the rearguard, I nodded at Connie and followed him. I wasn't gonna let him get killed too. We advanced in silence as we swept through the city, seeing dead body after dead body, pool of blood after pool of blood. This really was hell. We spotted Hanna and came down but when we did, I immediately threw up. She was giving CPR to Franz only...half of his body was gone. Armin rubbed my back as I finished throwing up. This...what in the hell was happening ?

Shortly after, Reiner's group found us and I limped towards them, dragging Armin along with me so that he wouldn't get killed.

"YUKI !" Reiner exclaimed. "THE HELL HAPPENED ?! DO YOU NEED ME TO CARRY YOU ?!" He gently placed his hands on my waist, holding me up

"I'm...I'm fine..." I lied, blood still dripping down my mouth. "E-Eren he's..."

I was interrupted by Mikasa, running towards us. Oh shit no not now. What was I gonna tell her ?
