The Guardian's Tale (AOT fanfiction)

-The Scream-

Right after I said that, I simply glanced behind me and noticed a Titan's hand headed straight for me. I sliced its fingers off, climbed onto its arm and crystallized my feet. Now wasn't the time for me to be a useless bitch. I ran up the Titan's arm, planted my feet in its neck and cut its nape.

"See Commander...I'm not a kid anymore." I jumped off the Titan's back and handed him the reins to my horse. "Please get out of here...we need you alive...I need you."

"My dear child..." He said, his voice close to a whisper.

Before I had time to hear the rest, Jean grabbed me and placed me on his horse. He then pointed out a single soldier fighting off the Titan in front of Mikasa, saying he needed backup. One more Titan came flying over us and Jean and Armin stopped their horses. Didn't Reiner care if Eren got eaten ?

"Move it or lose it asshole." Jean said. "I'm tired of his shit." He got his horse moving again as I clenched my swords tightly. "Yuki don't you dare. I know what you want to do and I swear if you try to fight them off I'll end you."

"JEAN !" Armin yelled.

We both looked behind us but it was too late. A Titan landed right in front of Jean's horse, sending us both flying off. I quickly got up and saw Armin jump off his horse to run to Jean.

"JEAN NO !" I yelled as I ran towards both of them. "Stay with us...it'll be alri-...ARMIN LOOK OUT !" I yelled as I saw a Titan coming towards us.

Holding Jean, Armin backed up against a tree, swinging his sword at the Titan. I gritted my teeth and stood in front of both of them. This was the time to prove to myself I wasn't a useless piece of shit. I gathered enough heat in both of my fists and touched the ground in front of us, making a line of fire in between us and the Titan.

"I'll burn you to ashes before you even get the chance to touch them." I grinned, blood dripping down my mouth due to the amount of energy it was taking my body. "YOU HEAR ME ASSHOLE ?! I'M NOT PUTTING UP WITH YOU GUYS'S SHIT ANY LONGER !" I yelled at the Titan. "I'll protect my friends." My eyes turned as red as the flames in front of me. "No matter what it costs."

I gathered the last of my strength and managed to lift the flames higher than my head, biting my lip to stay focused.

"Please don't let this be the end." I thought as I felt burns appear on my arms. "I have to protect my friends.I can't let it end here for them."

I spotted another Titan behind us and shifted my right hand to form a circle of flames around us. Hellish pain coursed through my whole body and I wanted nothing more than to just give up right here and there but I knew I couldn't. I fell to my knees, keeping my hands in the flames to keep the wall up. Because I knew that if I gave up now...Jean and Armin would die.

"G-AAARGH !" I let out a cry of pain as the fire started burning my hands and blood started running down my nose in addition to my mouth.

"YUKI !" Armin yelled. "YUKI STOP YOU'RE KILLING YOURSELF !"

"Don't worry Armin..." I turned to him and smiled as tears stung my eyes. "I promise...I'll protect you...no matter what it takes. You and Jean will live to see another day I swear it." I turned back to the Titan in front of us and gave one last effort, making the wall even hotter and higher.

I looked over at Reiner and heard him yell my name. I froze in shock for a second as I saw what resembled tears forming in his eyes. I shook my head and reluctantly looked back in front of me.

Blood started dripping down from my eyes instead of tears and I knew that I was close to my limit. Through the fire, I spotted the Commander, on his knees and I looked back at Armin. I could do it...I could protect him too. I shifted 2 fingers and a line of flames formed from my wall to Commander Erwin, creating a smaller wall around him.

"This is the power of the Guardian Titan." I grinned at the Titans behind the flames. "Look at it while you can bitch." The pain coursing through my body got worst but I ignored it.

After what seemed like an eternity, Eren screamed and I gasped as my eyes widened. I felt a strange sensation of lightning coursing through my veins for a second. Was that...no it couldn't be. After he screamed, the Titans all froze and ran towards him. I finally let the fire barriers disappear and I fell on my back, right next to Armin. It WAS what I thought, the power of the Founding Titan. I managed to lift my head up to look towards Eren but when I did, my eyes widened in horror. The Titans that had attacked the one in front of Eren were now going for the Armored Titan.

"R-REINER NO !" I yelled as I tried to get up. "STOP IT PLEASE ! NOT HIM ! REINER GET OUT OF HERE PL-" I was interrupted by the Commander pulling me onto his horse.

"SOLDIERS RETREAT !" He yelled. "You did very good Yuki...thank you my child."

At that moment, all sounds started sounding like foreign whispers and I could feel the blood still running down my eyes, nose and mouth. I knew I had used too much energy and that this may be the end for me but I didn't care. At least I had protected my friends and my father. I closed my eyes and let myself drift off as my heartbeat and breathing slowed down.

It had been a few days now since the Soldiers rescued Eren and I. I was now sitting next to Commander Erwin's bed alongside Captain Levi and Commander Pyxis, in full ODM gear despite Commander Erwin ordering me to rest. I had offered to guard the Commander and with a bit of persuasion, the Scouts let me. I wasn't fully recovered yet and still got frequent nosebleeds but I knew I couldn't sit around. Suddenly, a knock came at the door and Hange walked in with Connie.

"Hey there pyromaniac." The boy joked. "Didn't you get ordered to rest ? What are you doing dressed in full gear ?"

"Oh hey Connie. I'm fine." I answered as I got up to greet them. "In a few days I'll be fully recovered it's nothing to sweat about really."

"Pardon the intrusion Erwin." Hange spoke, saluting when she spotted Commander Pyxis. "Yuki you're free to leave." She said, giving me a small smile.

I gave the 3 men a small bow and headed out to find Mikasa, Jean, Armin and Eren. First, I went to the storage room and changed into my casual clothes as I was off duty. Since I still had a bit of trouble to walk, I had to use a crutch but I still tried to walk as fast as I could. Soon enough, I spotted 4 familiar figures.

"Hey guys !" I exclaimed, waving at them. "Been a hot minute huh ?"
