The Guardian's Tale (AOT fanfiction)

-Monsters pt.2-

"I, Nile Dawk, Commander of the Military Police, offer the following proposal. We suggest that, after a thorough examination of both of their bodies, they should be disposed of immediately." A black haired man spoke. "While it is true that their abilities helped thwart this latest incursion, their existence is now stirring up rebellious ideas as well. As such, after they've provided us with as much information as possible, they will be made fallen warriors of humanity."

"There's no need !" A wall worshiper spoke up. "They are vermin that have defiled and infiltrated the walls built by God's great wisdom. The should be killed at once !"

"SHUT UP !" I growled, my eyes glowing brighter. "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU KNOW HUH ?! DON'T YOU THINK WE'RE SCARED TOO ?! AND IF THERE WAS A GOD THEN WE WOULDN'T BE HERE NOW WOULD WE ?!" I stopped as Eren tapped his foot to mine and shook his head and I looked back at the white haired man in charge of our trial. "I...Apologies." 

"Next, let us hear the Scout Regiment's idea." The man in charge of this trial said. 

"Yes, sir." Commander Erwin said clearly. "I, Erwin Smith, 13th Commander of the Scout Regiment, offer the following proposal. We intend to accept them as official members of the Scout Regiment and utilize their abilities to retake Wall Maria. As for Yuki, we have raised her since she was 5 years old so I do not believe that she will be a problem. That is all."

"Tell me. From where would you launch the operation ?" The white haired man asked. "Pyxis." He said, turning to the Garrison commander. "The wall has been completely sealed in Trost District, correct ?"

"Yes." Commander Pyxis answered. "I doubt its gate will ever open again."

"We hope to depart from Calaneth District, to the east." Commander Erwin explained. "From there, we would approach Shiganshina by establishing a new route from scratch."

"WAIT A MINUTE ! SHOULDN'T WE SEAL ALL THE GATES NOW ?!" A merchant yelled. "The gates are the only part the Colossal titan can break ! If we can just r-"

"SHUT UP !" I growled as I slammed my chains against the pole. "COMMANDER ERWIN'S TALKING. GO RIGHT FUCKING AHEAD IF YOU THINK YOU'RE BETTER THAN HIM. LEAD THE SCOUT REGIMENT THEN AND WE'LL SEE JUST HOW MUCH INNOCENTS FUCKING DIE !" I brushed my tongue over my fangs, panting. 

"You have a big mouth on you, swine." Levi said, addressing the merchant. "What guarantee is there that the Titans will kindly wait while we bolster ? When you say "we", you mean the friends you're protecting so you fatten yourselves up. Are you pigs blind to the people who struggle to survive off what little land is left ?" He then gave me a small smile and turned back to the merchant. 

"I'm just saying that all we have to do is seal the gates if we want to live !" The man replied.

The wall worshiper then went on a whole argument about how humans shouldn't touch the wall because it was a gift from God. The man in charge of our trial tapped his hand on the desk and the whole room fell quiet. 

"I wish to make certain of something, Mr. Yeager, Mrs. Uchiha. As soldiers, can you continue to serve humanity by controlling your respective abilities ?"

"Yes sir. I can." Eren replied as I nodded. 

"But it says here in this report about the Trost Battle that just after transforming, you swung your fists at Mikasa Ackerman" The man said, looking at a sheet of paper.

Eren looked at me and I looked away from him. He then looked at Mikasa with distress on his face. Mikasa and I shot a dirty look at Rico, then I looked back at the white haired man. The man then asked Mikasa if it was true and she agreed. Eren looked back at me and I nodded. She then expanded and said that Eren saved her on 2 prior occasions while in Titan form. She then told him about how I formed a crystallized rib cage around her an Armin to protect them from the cannon fire. 

"Just a minute ! I believe that her testimony is also very driven by personal feelings." The Commander of the Military Police stated which made me clench my fists and fight against the restraints. "It should be noted that Mikasa Ackerman lost her parents at a young age and was taken in by the Yeager family. She also treated Yuki Uchiha's wounds when she was a child and got attached to her from that. What's more, our own investigation into this matter led us to a most surprising discovery. Eren Yeager and Mikasa Ackerman, at the age of 9, stabbed and killed three adult robber-kidnappers. Even if it was in self defense, we cannot help but question his basic humanity. As well as Yuki Uchiha, at the age of 7, burned down the barrack she was placed in by the Scouting Legion by losing control of her ability, injuring 13 people and killing 1. Should we really place personnel and funds in their hands, not to mention the very fate of humanity ?!"

I fought against my restraints as people started whispering and Eren and I looked at each other with distress on our faces. Were we going to die here like this ? And when did I burn down a barrack ?  I looked at Commander Erwin with sadness and fear in my face, my eyes asking him if it was true. He looked away from me and looked down. I...I really did ? Eren slammed his restraints against the pole and the room fell quiet.

"You're own using your own to push your own selfish agendas !" He cried out. "In fact...none of you have ever seen a Titan so why are you so afraid ?! What's the use of having power if you're not going to fight ?! If you're afraid of fighting for your lives then help us." He said as I looked up and tried to free myself from my restraints. "You...cowards ! Just shut up...AND INVEST EVERYTHING IN US !" He yelled.

2 soldiers pointed their guns at us and we thought we were about to get shot when all of a sudden Captain Levi kicked Eren's face. He then started to beat him and I fought against my restraints.

"LEVI-SAMA STOP !" I yelled as my eyes turned red. "ENOUGH !" 

Fire burst out around me and he froze. He then grabbed my head by my hair and kicked my stomach. Blood came dripping down the side of my mouth and the flames vanished. He then kicked the side of my head and the world started spinning and blood rushed down the side of my head. My eyes turned back to normal and I coughed up more blood. What the hell ?

"My personal belief is that pain is the best tool for teaching discipline. What you both need now is to be taught a lesson, not given a talking-to. And you guys happen to be in the perfect kicking POSITION !" He empathized the last word by kicking my ribs as blood burst out of my mouth and onto his boots.

He started beating Eren and I weakly looked up at Commander Erwin. He was looking at me with a cold and blank look. Captain Levi then placed his foot on the back of my neck, pressing my face to the floor.

"Wait...Levi !" The Commander of the Military Police said. "That's dangerous. What if they get mad and Eren turns into a Titan and Yuki burns the whole place down ?" Levi simply responded by kicking us both right in the stomach, his other foot still on my neck.

"Don't be silly." He replied. "You guys are gonna dissect them aren't you ? When Eren turned into a Titan, he apparently managed to kill twenty Titans before running out of strength. As enemies, their intelligence makes them all the more dangerous. Even so, I could handle them just fine. But could you ?" He asks as the room went silent. "Whoever dares to torment them had better think long and hard. Can you actually kill them ?"

"Sir, I have a proposition." Commander Erwin raised his hand. "Their abilities include too many uncertainties. Which poses an ever-present danger. As such, we will place Eren and Yuki under Captain Levi's supervision and conduct a recon mission outside the wall with them. Based on the results of the said mission, you can decide if Eren and Yuki have control over their abilities and if their existences are of benefit to humankind."

"Supervising Eren Yeager and Yuki Uchiha hm ?" The man in charge of our trial said. "Can you do this Levi ?"

"Oh I can most definitely kill them." He looked down at us. "The real problem is that there's no middle ground."

I was laying on my side, my hands still behind my back, held by the shackles and the metal pole and Eren was leaning forward, his face on the floor. I was panting as blood was running down from my mouth, ribs and stomach. I weakly looked over at Eren and noticed he was shaking just like I was. I caught Mikasa's gaze in the process, she was looking at Levi with pure rage and I gave her a small smile to reassure her. 

"I've reached my decision." The man said.
