The Guardian's Tale (AOT fanfiction)

"You mean the rightful heir to the throne is...Historia ?" Armin asked as they all stared in disbelief at Captain Levi.

"That's correct. And based on that knowledge, we can assume that she and Eren have been taken to Lord Reiss." Hange agreed.

"THAT'S BULLSHIT !" I yelled, slamming my hand on the table as I stood up. "IT'S A LIE AND IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN !" Blood started streaming down my wounds again, then looked up at everyone's confused and shocked faces. "I'm...nevermind. I'm sorry." I apologized, as I sat back down. "I...need some fresh air." I grabbed my crutch and walked outside. 

I fell to my knees on the grass and looked up at the starry sky. Why in the hell did I have to speak up ? Father...mother...I'm sorry. I can't do it, I can't take back the throne. I placed my hand over my mouth and leaned forward so that my forehead was touching the grass. I can't do it...why. Why do I have to be so weak all the time ? I quickly lifted my head up when I heard someone behind me. When they touched my shoulder, I knew exactly who it was.

"Fath-...I mean Captain..." I avoided his gaze. "I'm sorry I...I don't know what came over me."

"Yuki...child. Tell me the truth." He said gently. "The actual truth...no more lies."

"I..." I looked up at the sky. "Historia...doesn't belong on the throne. No member of the Reiss family does. In truth...the actual heirs to the throne are the Uchihas." I looked up at his confused face and placed a hand over the bullet wound on my side. "Centuries ago...the Uchiha clan ruled the walls in perfect harmony with the people. The citizens knew about our powers..." I formed a small flame on my finger. "Yet they never saw us as monsters, but rather adored our family. But there was one slight problem...there was another family of royal blood...the Reiss. They were irritated at the fact that we had gotten the throne instead of them so...they did what any disgusting pig would do. They twisted our story around." I hesitantly looked at him.

"Go ahead child." He encouraged solftly.

"They made the people believe that our powers were evil and that they would only bring death and chaos upon them. Most people believed them...some didn't. But the people who kept believing in out family would be slaughtered, tortured or beaten in public." I took a deep breath. "Indra...the king...didn't want to see our people suffer so...he gave up the throne and our clan went into hiding. However...that didn't satisfy the Reiss family. Our clan was hunted down for centuries and the Reiss thought it was finally over but...my father and my mother escaped and went to live in the Underground." A small tear rolled down my cheek. "They had my 2 brothers...Genji and Shisui then...they had me. My mother died right after giving birth to me though."

Levi took me into his arms and there was silence for a few minutes until I finally got the strength to continue. 

"Then one day...my father had sent my brother and I out to find as much food as we could but when we came back...him and my eldest brother were laying dead on the floor...with an 'R' carved into their chest... so all that is to say...I'm...the true queen." I looked up at the moon. "And that disgusting p-...Lord Reiss is planning on having Historia eat Eren to get the power of his Founding Titan so that they can get the throne once again. They need me because I'm the last Uchiha and...without my power, theirs will never be absolute." I looked at him with a sad smile on my face as my hair flew behind me. "My clan died...just so that their heir could get the throne and I...it would have been for nothing...Historia's gonna get the throne and history will repeat itself. I guess humanity will always have a pretender on the throne."

I stood up, grabbed my crutch and walked back inside just as Hange explained to the others why she thinks Reiss was planning on eating Eren. Levi then informed us that we were heading to Lord Reiss's estate and we all left to get ready. Jean and I argued back and forth about whether I should keep my crutch or not and I reluctantly agreed to keep it. He then helped me change my bandages and we both got ready, putting on our ODM gear for the first time in awhile.

I spotted MPs handing out flyers for the arrest of the Scout Regiment and I nudged Jean. I grabbed one and we walked back into the forest, where the others were waiting for us. 

"Captain we bought the supplies." I called out. "The MPs were handing out these fliers..." I handed him the paper. "If this is true then...the Scouts will be disbanded. They said they'll be hunting for us in the mountains tonight as well as they'll be posting guards on all the vital roads." I put my crutch down and sat down, leaning my back on a log as Sasha checked my wounds. "No one can get through them with-...Ngh...Without a pass." I grimaced as she touched both of them at the same time. "So...what now ?"

"We need to hurry and find Eren." Mikasa sated.

"He'll be fine. They're taking him on a wagon." Levi replied coldly. "That gives us one day before they reach Reiss's estate. And we need ever second we can get to come up with a plan."

"Captain...footsteps." Sasha and I said in unison.

"They're approaching..." I grabbed my crutch and slowly stood up. "2 of them from the East."
