No Going Back

Valerie had been hit in the head pretty hard by the man Dwayne. There was some internal bleeding but they were able to stop it.

It's been a week since her surgery was a success but she has yet to wake up. The doctor told them all the possibility of her not remembering the past couple days.

Elijah was a mess, it was concluded that Valerie had indeed lost the babies due to so much stress and the amount of movement she was doing.

Elijah beats himself up constantly for not getting there sooner, for not being able to stop Dwayne.

Although everyone tries to cheer him up, it doesn't work. You can't seem to get him to eat, and you'll always find him at the hospital with Valerie.

And what of Noemi?

Well she found and met her mother, they've been together ever since though.

Noemi has visited a few times, secretly of course for Elijah would probably kill her if he saw her there.

That night, Reina and Nathan were going to give wonderful news, much like Valerie's but instead the news was going to be about an engagement.

Their engagement.

Wedding planning had been set on pause till Valerie wakes up, Reina just couldn't bring herself to even try planning anything without her best friend.

Currently Elijah's with Valerie at the hospital telling her all the things he has yet to tell her in person.

"Did you know, when we first made eye contact that day three years ago at Starbucks, I just knew you were one day going to become the most important person to me."

He chuckled as he remembered the conversation he had with Nathan when he told him all about the girl he'd met.

"Nathan and I had a bet to see who could get the new girl first, but as soon as I saw you .. I couldn't let the bet continue."

"So I befriended you and never did I think that I'd fall for you as quickly as I did." He let out a tearful laugh.

"You had your hooks in me so deep that I didn't care if you hurt me because it would've been a privileged to get hurt by someone as amazing as you are." He grabbed a hold of her hand that laid beside her.

"I'm completely in love with you Valerie Costalona." He pulled out a black velvet box.

In Elijah's eyes he basically proposed to her, he couldn't stop the few tears that fell as he slipped the ring on her finger.

"God I need you right now, more than ever Val. Without you my days are dull. Please come back to me. Please just wake up." He continued to cry, holding her hand as if he was afraid she would disappear at any moment.

Reina and Nathan had just arrived and were about to walk in but saw Elijah sitting in the chair next to Valerie's bed.

At this point he was crying while whispering things to her every now and then. He's afraid that if at any moment when he's not there she'll leave.

"What can we do Nathan? He's going to drive himself towards depression." Reina asked crying silently.

Nathan kissed her head, "I don't know, have you gotten through to her dad yet?" Reina shook her head, "He's still unreachable."

Nathan nodded before pulling her away from the room. "Come on let's go home." Reina nodded although she wanted to protest but she couldn't.

Back with Elijah he was still crying at her bedside. That is until her monitor starting beeping before it flat lined. Elijah began to panic, and starting yelling for help.

A number of nurses and a doctor showed up, several nurses had to push Elijah out of the room because he refused to leave.

"Come on Valerie stay with us, you still have two babies waiting to meet you one day." The doctor chanted as he paddled her.

After two more times there was no change in her current state. Elijah leaned against the wall before sliding down and allowing his head to hang.

Reina and Nathan came running back towards the room but as soon as they saw Elijah, Reina lost it.

"No, no please." She attempted to run into the room but Nathan held her back seeing as the doctor was still in there.

The sudden sound of her monitor beeping once more gave them all hope. They cried out in relief as they watched the doctor check on her and the babies.

Ever so slowly Valerie began to regain consciousness, but something wasn't right. There was fear and confusion written all over her face.

Elijah was quick to run into the room and embrace the girl he was so afraid of losing.

But in doing so caused, Valerie to let out  a high pitch scream causing Elijah to pull away in pain seeing as she was close to his ear.

"Who are you?! W-Why are you touching me?! Where am I?!"

Those three sentences were enough for Elijah's happiness to come shattering down.
