"There's not much we can say. She's still sleeping but in several hours or so she should be awake."

Dr. Hamilton told Elijah while looking at her flip chart "She hit her head pretty hard there was signs of there possibly being a concussion, and possible brain damage."

All hope Elijah had at the moment seemed to fad. "Brain damage? Then there's a chance she could get amnesia again? Short-term or permanently?"

Dr. Hamilton looked over her notes again, before sighing. "Either one, we can't really say.."

Her pager then went off, she apologized before leaving.

"She'll be okay Lijah. She's going to wake up soon, and smile at us and say 'Hey.' And we'll laugh and then after a few days we'll go home. You'll propose."

But Elijah didn't believe a word he just said, he had a gut feeling that it's not going to happen. He was worried that she'd not wake up and ask who they are and where she was at.

He believed that she'd remember something's but it won't involve him or anyone she had already met.

Elijah knew that then and there, he couldn't handle losing her again. "I've made up my mind." Reina frowned confused at his words as she and Nathan walked in.

"What do you mean?" Elijah looked to the unconscious Valerie and smiled. "I love her probably more then life itself. I just ... can't go through her not remembering again. Before she wakes up, I'm going to leave. I'll keep in contact, but I'm going to leave somewhere sort of like a vacation."

Reina along with Nathan were completely shocked at the words that left his mouth.

They couldn't believe what he had just said. "Why? Why would you even consider doing that?" Reina exclaimed still not believing him.

"I don't know. This is me giving Valerie a better life without my problems getting in the way when I left for a week and came back she was in hell. I won't put her through that again, leaving her kills me and I'll probably be sad for awhile but I know this is the right thing to do. "

Reina scoffed, "Don't look at me like that, it's my life and choices." Elijah told Reina but that only caused her to get even more angry, "That'll affect Val!"

This time Elijah was the one to scoff, "Yeah, it'll affect a girl who won't even remember who we are."

With that Elijah grabbed his jacket and kissed Valerie on the forehead before whispering into her ear. "Always and forever, remember that."

"Bring me up at random times yeah?" Elijah asked as he was now facing them but they were lost in their thoughts. "Guys, this isn't goodbye, it's just me saying I'll be back."

Nathan watched sadly as his best friend left probably for what felt like the millionth time to him.

"Are we really going to let him make probably most likely the worst decision he's ever made?" Reina asked and Nathan could only shrug.

At that moment, Val's heart monitor sped up slightly causing them to look in her direction, she was slowly gaining consciousness.

"Get the doctor." Reina nodded and wobbled out to find the doctor.

That's when Nathan saw it, there was a note as well as her ring. The one he was going to propose to her with.

Nathan was confused, trying to remember when he set the two things down. He couldn't seem to remember at all.

Picking up the note, Nathan couldn't help but smile as he read it. "Slick mother fucker."

Dear Valerie,

There's a possibility that you won't even remember who I am. I'm okay with that because, that's my karma but you need know that I love you and I always will. You're mine and mine alone, you have no idea the effect you have on me. Just being with you is enough for me, being in your presence, hearing you laugh or even seeing you smile.

You know the feelings of butterflies right? Well me being with you makes them ten times more epic. Valerie, the way we met wasn't the best but if you do remember that day then to me it was pretty amazing to see you walk into that Starbucks.

The day we made a mess in the kitchen trying to cook and I got flour all over your hair. The day I officially asked you out and you blushed like mad crazy which I found utterly adorable. The day I found out you were pregnant, to the day I found out you lost them. To now and I know I'm not there right now, well that's because I'm leaving for awhile.

I want you to take this ring, it was your engagement ring but considering how you might not remember me I've decided to just give it to you. If you want to wear it on that finger go ahead because I'll be doing the same. If you don't then that's fine with me.

I love you Valerie Costalona, always and forever.

Sincerely, your Lijah.

"That was beautiful and oddly amusing." Nathan's head snapped to Valerie who was now sitting up and staring at Nathan.

"Do you know who I am?" He asked her cautiously and she nodded. "You're Lijah right?" Nathan frowned sadly and shook his head.

"No he left not to long ago. I'm Nathan you're brother." Her eyes widened in disbelief "I HAVE A BROTHER?! H-how? W-who? W-what?"

Nathan couldn't help but laugh, "Long story." Valerie was about speak again but Reina came wobbling in with the doctor right behind her.

"Reina?" Valerie's eyes watered up as she looked at her best friend for the first time.

Or well to her it was.

"Here we go again." Reina muttered, shaking her head at her best friend who couldn't seem to stay out of trouble.

One thing was for sure though, they were glad that there was no going back because then they wouldn't have met the people they met.

Wouldn't have fallen in love with them.

This was No Going Back, and boy are they glad they never did.

The end.
