Oh hi guys, here's another cheesy chapter on percababies. There's gonna be like few more maybe but some kick-ass chapters are planned. I got them layered out finally 😁
Merry Christmas for now, enjoy the holidays. Sturdy health and all to you!
Vendy
Grover was there when they found out and now he would too when Annabeth first truly broke down about it.
How could she possibly do this?
She was home alone, with Victoria in preschool, where she truly went only a few times a month. If she had her home, she'd have no time to think like that. They'd be playing and learning, painting or running down the halls...
The whole thing happened on a very exciting day. Being a pregnant demigod was just funny in the way that you rather walked the few minutes to the hospital house, where other demigods took care of you, than drive to a mundane hospital for your check-ups. But in Camp Half Blood, if you felt good and walked by a few gifted kids of Apollo or Eileithyia, you didn't exactly need to use the ultrasound machines and get blood work unless you asked to or it was requested to make sure. Annabeth and Percy did ask, and they drove everyone who wanted to see down to the camp. It was quite the rush by the time everyone entered the room. All types of new branches of specializations, medical or other, grew over the past few years, the camp reformed to fit the new lifestyle (being a young demigod and living to tell about it all was still pretty new to everyone). Percy's parents were there and so the closest friends of the couple's, Victoria bounced from Annabeth to Percy, thrilled to see the baby on the screen.
But just as Travis and Katie got the surprise of their lives a little over four years ago, so did Annabeth and Percy.
"It's- Oh congratulations guys, the babies are healthy!" Kayla, who actually went to med school, cheered in delight. Everyone shut up. You could drop a hair and hear it land. Will looked up from the table he was writing down Annabeth's results at, reliving the past trauma of delivering the Stoll babies in the middle of the night, quite not yet fully trained back then, he still handled it though. But he was happy for them, even though he just lost a bet of Nico's (I bet you my sneakers it's gonna be twins, giant Ikea bag of Happy meals on it, he had said the day at the Christmas party when they found out). He did not much approve of Nico stuffing junk food down.
"Percy!" Annabeth exclaimed, rather shocked. No one really spoke yet, all too in their heads, thinking, did she really say babies? "It's twins?" Annabeth exhaled, her voice taking on a slight tremor before she burst into happy tears.
"Yes it is, we couldn't see it that clearly back then, you took some time with this next appointment, now it's for sure."
"This is great Annabeth." Percy started grinning, assuring himself and her, they'd make this work too.
"Blah- hah- hah- Dam you two." Grover laughed.
"This is just perfect" Percy agreed.
They found out it was going to be one of each too, just like Katie and Travis's twins, a girl and a boy.
Oh Annabeth had been thinking of names, the way she'd make the nursery for both of the kids even better than it was now, of the way she'd not sleep for a few years coming. She was quite sure she was breaking down and going into early labor when she realized there was no way Percy could come to her to hold her in his arms until she got her head straight again. He was far too needed at the University today, a lecture after lecture awaited him and she couldn't just call him off for a scare, they already had one professor down with her taking a break.
Grover.
She called Grover and he came running in no more than a few minutes.
"What's going on Annabeth? Are you alright? Are the babies? Did someone hurt you?" Grover started, scared to the bone, as he threw open the door to find a very lazy Greer just looking up from her bed and Annabeth pacing around the living room, shaking her hands out.
But who would hurt her here? And she could still take care of herself very well.
"I can't. I-" She just blurted out, breaking into his arms and sobbing mildly, hugging him. "Grover i truly cannot do this. I'm not ready, what if they're sick or too small, I can't handle this. Katie's twins are healthy all the way but the way we tried for a kid for so long made me terrified I couldn't carry one to term, let alone two. What if they're born too soon and can't even breathe yet. What if-"
And suddenly Grover was home. This wasn't just hormones messing with Annabeth, he understood her insecurities. He knew her for way too long, Annabeth thought thoroughly about everything, sometimes too much. "No. You can Annie. You already did."
"That's not true. Victoria was this perfect child sent from heaven. No pun intended. She was so precious and easy. And I'm not the one who could have messed her up by carrying and giving birth to her. What if I'm the reason these babies aren't alright somehow?"
"Annie come here." Grover led them over to the terrace door where you could see sand mixing with grass. It was sunny and warm, not unusual for the break of April and May in Half Blood. They went out and sat on the beach because Grover knew she would feel better with the sand crunching under her feet and the waves creating music, soft melodies, just for her.
And then Annabeth just cried a little. Because yes, her hormones were involved too and she just had to let them out.
"Now tell me exactly what you feel, one by one." Grover said, a hand over Annabeth's back.
She suddenly remembered the back of the zoo truck again. "I'm terrified that I don't know how they'll be. If they're doing good."
"You just had an ultrasound done though, they looked perfectly fine, right?"
"Yes they did, the girl weighted a little more but tiny boy was alright too. All's by the book."
"So? You just answered that one. And you can get checked anytime again."
"It freaks me out that they'll come in like 3 months and I'm supposed to just switch to them and Victoria. I don't want to neglect her, or them. When she was this tiny baby, all we did when we could was take care of her, watch her sleep and listen to her tiny breaths and funny squeaks. It was just her. I didn't ever think I'd have one kid, let alone three by twenty two."
"But you wanted them so much. That already says a lot. And Victoria will be there doing all that with you. I've talked to her, Annie. She said she, I'm quoting her now, cannot wait for the love of uncle Hades for her to have the babies home. She was jealous of the Stoll twins for always having a friend with them, for life. Trust me, she's fully aware you'll have to take care of three now and won't be able to return them. Yesterday she started talking about how she could do laundry and clean the pool. And sweep the floors... And that she would change a diaper under the condition of it not being smelly. She also allegedly practiced fast dressing her dolls and teddy bears."
Annabeth giggled. She was wondering what that was about. "Oh gods."
"Yeah, I'd watch out for that too." Grover laughed.
"Thank you." She sighed. Annabeth did everything to stay away from panic attacks and breakdowns in her state, if she could. "You're a good friend, Grover. The best."
"I remember Percy telling me that for the first time." Grover smiled. "You too."
They went through so much together, known each other for so long. Fifteen years.
"So, will you name the boy after me then?"
"Actually... We were thinking of Charlie for the boy. Soph for girl. But we never told anyone so don't blabber." Annabeth smiled.
"I see the theme with those names. You're building yourself an army of cool kids." Grover said, representing each kid on a finger of his hand. "Victoria - victorious. Charlie - free. Sophia - wise. Bet Athena would love that one. What's the next one gonna be? Xena?" He laughed.
"Whoa, easy there with those imaginations. I'm not sure I'll ever agree to this again after what I've been going through with those two."
"I heard a rumour about a prophecy saying you'd have at least another few like this." He grinned.
"Nah, I specifically told Rachel to stuff all prophecies mentioning me or my kids in it deep where the lights don't shine. Nothing like that is set in stone."
"You really said that?"
"More like yelled once she touched me and green mist started pouring everywhere. You should have seen that scene. She really never said a word. Didn't even remember it." She laughed.
Satisfied that the mission of calming Annabeth was successful, Grover jumped up. "Okay but now I'm seriously hungry. I was at the store actually, looking for some veggie yummies, crunchy cans, you know, when you called."
Annabeth laughed, reaching her arms out so he'd help her up.
"We could make cheese tortillas." She offered cheekily.
"I love you more than sunlight."
"You tell Juniper that too? You hopeless romantic..." Annabeth grunted as she was pulled up and cracked her back a little as she stretched and continued to her pulled arm.
"Guh, I hate that sound." Grover shook his head. "And no, I'm not that cheesy."
"Unless cheese itself is involved." Annabeth cracked up.
"You know what, I'm gonna let that pass and be glad you're snarky instead of mean." Grover joked.
"You better."
Annabeth headed for the kitchen and started taking things out of the cabinets while Grover searched the garden for anything green to eat in the tiny vegetable garden Annabeth tried hard to keep alive but failed majestically.
"Is there anything we could use?" Annabeth shouted from the counter."
"If you like dried up roots."
"Hey, I try!" She called back.
"I can see that." Grover walked in, a small amount of greenery in his hand. "I saved your palm by the way." He said.
"I haven't thrown that out yet?"
"I can't believe I'm saying that but get synthetic plants." Grover rolled his eyes.
And they talked on until it was time to finally pick Victoria from the school. The kid was so happy that her uncle Grover came too that he had to stay till the night to be released.
