"Hey Emily, are you okay?" Michael asked me, sitting down next to Mia.

"We heard what happened.." Calum said as some girls I didn't know the names of joined us.

"I'm fine." I awkwardly laughed it off. The girls flirted with Michael and Calum for awhile. Mia and I just sat and giggled at them. The boys were enjoying themselves a lot.

"Emily." I tensed up hearing my name.

"Luke." I replied without turning around.

"Can I um talk to you? He mumbled. I stood up without answering and followed him out into the corridor.

"Hi." He started. I waited for him to continue. He cleared his throat.

"Look, I really like you. I know I shouldn't have hit Ashton, but I did and I can't take it back now. It was a misunderstanding and I'm so sorry."

"Okay." I mumbled avoiding his eyes.

"Okay." He said sadly. "Okay." He repeated trying to get some sense out of the word. "Okay." He looked down in defeat.

I started to feel guilty. Luke was nothing but kind to me.

"Luke.." I started.

"No, it's okay." He said walking away.

I watched him walk in the opposite direction, through the crowds of people. He deserved better than that. I wanted to yell after him. Run after him. Jump into his arms and kiss him, tell him I forgive him. I wanted to see him smile for me. I forgave him and I wanted him to know. But my feet wouldn't move. They were as hard as stone. A tear rolled down my cheek.

I would get him back.

Ashton's POV

I saw Emily standing alone in a corridor full of people, not moving, staring into the distance. I felt terrible. But I had figured something out. I liked her. I liked her a lot.

I think I knew awhile ago, but I just hadn't admitted it to myself.

After Emily had walked out at the party, me and Luke had both tried to follow her, only to be stopped by some other girls.

"Let her have some space." They said shoving us back up the stairs. Weirdly enough, we had ended up back in that room.

"It wasn't what it looked like." I tried to calm Luke down.

"I really like her Ash, I have for a long time. You know that." He replied angrily. "But of course, you like her too."

"I what?" I said in disbelief.

"Oh, come on, it's obvious. If you told her, nobody else would have a chance. She would fall for you quick and hard. "

"Oh." I sat down on the bed.

"We're mates right?" Luke questioned me.

"Yeah."

"Then please, just please, be good to her. She's amazing."

"I know Luke." And I did know. Every single thing he said was true.

Then why couldn't I just walk up to her and say sorry? She finally moved a little, only for me to see a single tear run down her cheek. As she wiped it away quickly.

"Em." I said rushing up to her.

"Oh, um Ashton hi." She wiped her eyes as a precaution.

"Are you okay?"

"I was just talking to Luke." She said without emotion.

"Oh."

"Bye Ashton." She said walking away.

"Emily!" I called after her, but it was no use. I had lost my chance to apologise to her.

She was crying over Luke anyway. She obviously still likes him. God and to think I was going to tell her.
