I woke up early, for the first time on a Sunday morning in years. 8am and I was out of bed and in the shower. I had already picked out the clothes I had wanted to wear, the make up I wanted to use. As I got out of my shower I realised how much effort I was putting into seeing a boy I used to see in sweat pants. I grimaced, but continued getting ready anyway.

I drifted down the hallway to find an empty kitchen. Pulling out a pan and some ingredients, I decided to make pancakes. My phone vibrated and I nearly dropped it because I grabbed it so fast.

'You free today?' I text Luke back saying,

'Sorry! I'm hanging out with Ashton.'

My head felt like it was going to explode. The thought of hanging out with Ashton again was great, I missed him. But I didn't know if I would feel awkward, or what would happen between us. What if I imagined kissing him? Oh no.

But then, of course, there was Luke. Wonderful, gorgeous, Luke. He was perfect in every way. Texting me good morning, surprise visits, etc. I couldn't control my mind. Two amazing guys, but my head and heart couldn't pick one.

Bringing me out of my daze was a burning smell so I looked down, only to see a black pancake. Dad laughed as he walked in and kissed my cheek.

"How about I fix us breakfast?" He asked.

"Yes please." I replied laughing. He took over the mix and the pan and started all over again.

"So your grounding is officially over." He said with his back turned to me. "Although, I don't know if it should be."

My face dropped. I sat down with a thud and stared at the back of his head. He turned around slowly, his grin from one ear to the other.

"I was kidding!" He broke out with laughter. "You should have seen your face!"

I sighed in relief. "Wow your so funny." I muttered, rolling my eyes.

"Hey I have to entertain myself somehow." He chuckled.

"Preferably not like that?" I replied, getting the last word in.

"Pancakes up." He said putting two pancakes in front of me.

Ashton showed up at my house around 11. My dad answered the door after he knocked.

"Ashton!" He smiled, pulling him into a hug. He looked shocked, but returned it anyway.

"Take her away from me." Dad spoke in his ear. He laughed and they both pulled away.

"Sorry about the grounding, you two were inseparable before mean old dad." We both laughed awkwardly, dad not knowing the real reason. But then I guess neither did I.

"We should go." I said, stepping past dad.

"Bye hon." Dad said and closed the door behind us. Ashton looked at me.

"You look pretty." I blushed. I don't think he had ever complimented how I looked. It just wasn't something that happened.

"Thanks." I accepted the compliment, walking onto the foot path in front of him. I glanced around to see him shaking his head, like he was angry at himself. I stopped and waited a few steps for him to catch up.

"So, what did you want to do today?" I asked, taking the lead.

"Um I don't know, I have the house to myself so we could go there?" I burst into laughter. "Oh no, not like that!" He laughed.

"Oh I missed you Ashton." I giggled. A look I couldn't decipher spread on his face, but disappeared quickly. He pulled my into a tight hug and I hugged him back just as hard.

"I'm sorry." He whispered in my ear. I relaxed in his arms until he pulled away and straightened himself up. He fixed his hair and nervously smiled at me.

"Let's um go." He said. So we walked in the direction of his house.

We reached the front door, not many words had been spoken. Small conversation that you have with your friends parents, nothing like we use to. He let us in and plopped himself on the couch. I sat on the other side and looked at him.

"Ashton, why did you do that?" I asked carefully.

"Sorry, I uh didn't have the energy to sit down nicely.." He trailed off unsure.

"Not that. You know what I mean." It took him a moment before his face changed and his mind clicked. He cringed and put his hands over his face.

"Apparently I have to tell you something, but I can't. I don't want to ruin the day this early."

"You won't ruin the day." I spoke back.

"I will though." He pulled his hands and head apart and glanced at me sadly.

"Ashton, just tell me. We used to tell each other everything!" My voice raising slightly.

"Emily.." He started, but I interrupted.

"I have had weeks of not talking to you, you avoiding me and I have no idea why!" I yelled, all my anger coming out.

"Emily wait." But I wouldn't let him finish.

"If you are going to tell me why you've been such a dick, then sure go ahead!" His face changed.

"EMILY IM IN LOVE WITH YOU." He bellowed. "But I've had to see you with perfect little Luke for months. I bet you've had sex with him, the way you two go on. Please, keep it in private so the world doesn't have to see!"

I sat shocked. "No." I said quietly.

"What?" He breathed angrily.

"We haven't had sex." I replied coldly.

"Oh goodie." Ashton cooed sarcastically. "I just told you I was in love with you, but you chose to listen to the part about Luke."

"Luke is my boyfriend." I spat back at him.

"And I used to be your best friend." He said quietly before storming into his room and slamming the door.

I sat on their couch, tears in my eyes. I opened the front door and ran right into Michael and Calum.

"Sorry." I said, wiping my eyes as a precaution.

"You okay?" Michael asked, grabbing my arm and puling me towards them.

"Just fine." I said faking a smile.

"If you see Luke, tell him it's band practice at mine, yeah?" Calum offered a small smile.

"Sure." I said, before Michael released his grip and I could finally pull myself away.

I wasn't sure where all that anger had come from, but all I wanted to do was be in Ashton's arms again and tell him I was sorry. I contemplated running back to his house and apologising, but decided against it.

He had confessed his love for me and I had thrown it back in his face. I wouldn't blame him if he never forgave me. Hell I might never forgive me.
