"There is some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for."
- J.R.R. Tolkien♣♣♣
Finally Joe and Judith had moved from where they sat. Over the time they had sat there she had comforted him back to his calm state before talking to him to take his mind off of his wounded friend. They had took to standing with Bill and Toye who were talking about how that was tough fighting and how great they think they'd been during their attack. But in her mind Judith pictured Tipper in the state which Joe had described and it was an image she couldn't get out of her mind, she wondered how Joe felt since he seen Tipper in that state.
Joyce walked out to find Eugene working on Winters leg which had a small bit of bullet stuck in it from a ricochet, she softly touched the mans leg before allowing Roe to continue.
"What's wrong with Blithe ?" Winters asked looking to the man sat in the doorway.
"Well nothing. Except he can't see." Roe said, his accent strong.
"He can't see ?" Winters asked.
"So he says." Roe added on.
"Hysterical Blindness," Joyce's soft and quiet voice interrupted the two men, "it's a-uh psychological thing. Happens due to trauma. It won't uh.... it won't last long. Or at least not forever, temporary thing."
Winters nodded before hopping off the table and making his way to the man as Roe just looked at Joyce with a small smile. Joyce smiled back at him before turning to watch Winters interact with the man who sat with his knees pulled to his chest. Something tugged her heart when she watched Blithe look away as a sad expression came on his face and tears fell. It took a lot for her to not go over and tell him things would be okay, to reassure him.
Outside Monique laid next to Malarkey, Penkala and Muck as other people joined them but she hadn't bothered to look who as she enjoyed the sun with her dark hair in Dons lap as his fingers softly touched it.
"Berlin by Christmas, that's how I see it."
"Yeah you're full of it."
"Who knows at this point." Monique chimed in.
"Oh, God. This Kraut cheese tastes like- it stinks." Muck complained with a laugh.
"Breads stale too." Penkala added on.
Monique had become fond of the three best friends: Malarkey, Penkala and Muck. She often found herself in their presence as they were good company as well as all being in her Platoon. Before D-Day they had trained together a lot, going on jogs together, drinking at the pub together. Out of the three she was closest to Don, she didn't know what it was but something drew her to him and made her want to know more about him.
