"Ladies do not start fights, but they can finish them."
– The AristoCats♣♣♣
When Liebgott woke up most men were awake and moving around in their side of the hedge whilst Judith softly snored as her head lay on his shoulder still. It was now D-Day plus 7. Easy company had found themselves on the front lines of a gun fight yet again. The last fight was exhausting for all so Joe wanted to let Judith sleep a little longer, so he softly laid her down on the ground before climbing out of his foxhole.
Something he had learnt was that Judith Moore was indeed a deep sleeper and could sleep through pretty much anything. Once they had been at the bar but Judith had gone through exhausting PT that day and had fell asleep on her arms at one of the tables, so George being George had tried to flick some peanuts at her to wake her up. One had flew straight through the air landing on the lobe of her ear yet she still hadn't woken. Not even a few moments later a small brawl had broken out between two of Easy Company's men which resulted in yells from all of them yet still, she slept.
Joe found it funny that the girl was such a deep sleeper as once during a small run she had stopped along the way and curled up on the British soil without any of the group taking notice. It was like she was a toddler who had been running around a house and then decided to curl up on the couch. But once Joyce noticed they retraced their steps to find her on the floor with dirt and leaves in her hair, so Bill had picked her up to carry her back.
Eileen stood around Welsh and a few other men as he explained the plan, listening to Luz chatter in the background as her eyes scanned for Tab. She hadn't seen him since their shift last night and was terribly worried.
"Fire and manoeuvre. That's the name of the game: fire and manoeuvre." Welsh informed the men around him.
"Dog and Fox companies will be on our left flank with us. Any questions ?" Welsh looked at them all, Eileen raised a hand.
"At which point do we die."
"That's aim of the game, you don't die."
"Oh gotcha. Think I misunderstood the rules of the game. Sorry sir." Eileen smiled.
"I hate you sometimes." Guarnere looked up at the ginger, who simply stuck her tongue out at him.
"On a serious note, where's Tab?" Eileen asked with a bright smile.
"He got stabbed last night, Joy and Roe took him back to the aid station." Welsh told her with a solemn look, he remembered the two were on their watch together just before it happened.
Something in her stomach had dropped. How had he been stabbed ? Their side of the hedge had been clear when they did their length of it, no German had crossed and they were completely fine. So how ? No scenario matched in her head as it all involved Germans. She had been with him and he was fine.
