On September 13th, 1944, all of Easy Company gathered into a pub within Aldbourne to celebrate. Eileen and Joyce both sat watching some of the company as they threw darts, seeing who could win in their little duos. Both women stood with a drink in hand with small smiles as they watched Babe and Bill spoke. It was nice to see them welcoming in one of the new replacements into their company.
Luz had pulled the sympathy card by making it seem as though Buck was struggling and having a tough night so it was thought that they were actually losing. Heffron took his shot, scoring the points his team needed. All of them applauded, John Martin giving the kid a nod before Bill took him away.
Not far was Judith who sat drinking alone in a corner watching everyone with a content smile, Joe Liebgott had yet to come in from having a smoke and had been gone a good twenty minutes. So, with the last gulp of her beer she stood and headed outside where she found Liebgott laying on some grass staring up at the sky alone. A soft smile came to her lips as she walked over, laying beside her best friend to keep him company.
"Fancy seeing you here." Judith softly spoke.
"I'm sorry, just got distracted." Joe turned his head to her.
"It's okay. I just thought the worst had happened and came to make sure we didn't need Roe to get you." Judith smiled over at him.
"Right, well we may need him too soon. My legs have gone numb from laying so still." Joe laughed as he propped himself on his elbows.
"Come on, big baby." Judith said before standing up herself and helping Joe to his feet.
The pair stood there for a moment before turning to head back inside, but as they did a few members from another Company passed the two.
"Hey, Liebgott, who's the dame ? Got yourself a new toy ?" One asked with a laugh.
"Yeah, right. Fuck off, why don't you." Joe shot back at them before they walked closer.
"Don't talk to me like that." The man shot back.
"I can do whatever the hell I please. Piss off and leave us alone." Joe rolled his eyes before throwing an arm around Judiths shoulders and leading her away.
"That's right, run away with your little dame."
Judith could feel his fist ball up in anger as it shook slightly on her shoulder, so she reached her hand up to softly run her fingers on his knuckles to calm him. He kept his arm around her as they walked back into the pub and sat down at their table again.
