It was now the 21st of October in 1944, Easy company had been practising for a rescue mission of 100 British troopers who had been trapped in German occupied territory since September. All the men were in their respectful barns as talked amongst their own little groups. They were all anticipating the rescue mission across the Rhine. It was approaching fast.
Judith was sat up in her bed as she spoke to Joe Liebgott who had barely left her bed the whole day, in fear that she would get as bad as she did during the crossroads assault. He worried for her.
"How is your neck Joe ?" Judith asked him.
"It's fine Judith. I promise." He smiled softly toward her.
The two had wound up looking after Trigger who had somehow stayed with them whilst they moved from their previous barn. The pair didnt mind it though, it was some fun to do whilst they awaited orders on what to do. All the members of Easy were happy to see Judith feeling a lot better than she was, she had regained all of her energy and most of the illness had made its way out of her system despite the awful conditions.
Each of them took it in turns to cheer her up, to check in on her and get Doc Roe if she was feeling slighty worse that day. George Luz would do impressions, Tab would get Trigger to do tricks, Frank would just, well, be himself. Judith really appreciated it though. Monique would come over and the two would talk about their home lives.
Eileen even found time to visit and check up on her. One night all three girls quietly cried about Joyce. They all really missed her. The men of Easy Company had heard but they didn't mind the raw emotions they felt, they would probably feel the same way if put in their shoes. All four had been close like sisters since joining the army, all through training they had been super close. With one missing, it just felt different.
All the barn was primarily quiet apart from Tab and Smokey going back and forth about their ventures with the 82nd through Normandy with Joyce, with Shifty observing the two. They argued about who it was who kept the most morale between the four, Tab argued it was him with his witty comments. Smokey argued it was Joyce with her bright smile and reminding them each to eat and drink.
"Will you two quit it already ?!" Frank moaned from across the barn.
"Not until he admits it was me who kept us going, not Joyce!" Tab yelled at him.
"Uh Tab I do think it was me more than anyone else."
Every member of the company turned to the door of the barn at the soft spoken voice they knew so well, it was the voice they heard every night they dug into their fox holes and had her come check on them.
"Joyce!" Tab yelled and ran toward the medic.
Though he hadn't voiced it, he had missed her dearly. The two always bickered like an old married couple and had been close since Normandy, the group that made their way with the 82nd had always been closer.
Joe smiled as Judith practically leaped out of the bed with Trigger following her toward the blonde medic stood recieving hugs and choruses of 'welcome back' from all the men. Fear spread upon the small medics face as she saw Judith and Monique charging toward her and they didnt seem to be slowing down to embrace her, all she could do was brace herself for impact. A loud thud was heard as all three women ended up on the floor with Trigger prouncing around them.
Tears errupted from both brunettes eyes as they sobbed in joy at their friend being back, they feared the worst when Bull had gotten back before her. Trigger whined happily and began licking all their faces. All of the Toccoa men smiled down at the sight. If they had a camera right now, boy would they have gotten a picture because it was a moment they didnt want to forget.
