"The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud."
- Coco Chanel

♣♣♣

Judith was sat between Joe Liebgott and Bill Guarnere. The aircraft rumbled as they flew towards Normandy ready to jump behind the enemy lines and all the men were finding their own ways to distract their nerves. Judith's fingers were in her mouth as she bit on them to deal with her nerves which were through the roof as of that moment. Bill watched her before looking forwards not wanting to watch her harm herself anymore.

Monique was a little further down between Joe Toye and Warren Muck tapping her fingers on her knees as she sat completely still looking straight forward, till Toye put a comforting hand on top of hers. They smiled at one another with a comforting nod. Down at the door, the red light blinked on causing Lieutenant Winters to stand in front of 2nd Platoon.

"Get ready !" He yelled over the rumbling engine. "Stand up !"

With that the men and women in the aircraft stood to their feet with their hooks in hand, looking toward their Lieutenant. Judith couldn't really see the man due to being short but she could hear him well enough to hear him instruct them to hook up, so she reached up and hooked herself up.

Amongst everyone in the aircraft she was by far the shortest of them all which at times she found amusing because no one would even know if she were there amongst the men. Sometimes it came in hand when Sobel wanted to reprimand someone because he would have skipped over her due to her being out of his eyesight. Some of the men had told her they envied how short she was due to this.

She checked Bills equipment for him before checking her own. Once she knew his was safe she gave him a pat on his arm. Then the sound offs began.

"Five okay!" Liebgott yelled behind her giving her a tap.

"Four okay !" She squeaked loud enough for Bill to hear before tapping his shoulder.

In the distance they could hear shots but once they breached through the clouds the plane shook violently from the shots which were aimed toward the aircraft. Judith fell forwards into Bill, who put a protective arm around the girl to prevent her from getting hurt as all the men got shook around like rag dolls due to the pilots trying to avoid any of the shots. Finally the plane was slightly more stable so he helped her to her feet before he got up himself, he made sure she was okay before facing forward again.

Finally the light flashed green and Winters yelled before jumping out. The men followed in suit as did the women. When Judith jumped her eyes fell upon the shots hitting the planes and noticed a few planes had crashed. Her eyes flickered to all the parachutes rocketing down to the ground. There were many of them. Too many. Someone was not in the right DZ and she knew it.

Looking down she saw the ground coming and prepared herself for the rough landing. As soon as her body was on the ground she cut herself free of the parachute which enveloped her before removing her helmet and taking off the parachute. As soon as she was free she grabbed her weapon before headed straight for some trees in front of her, it was dark, real dark.
