♣♣♣
Judith had barely slept that night as she was nervous for the jump into Normandy, as much as they studied the land and prepared she was still somewhat nervous for it. June and David said their farewells to the woman as well as giving her a small chain with a cross on it. June told her she sometimes heard her mumbling small prayers at nights, so she hoped the cross would help the girls prayers be heard. As she was leaving Judith put on her uniform and took her pictures of her family and one of her dog before she had fully left their elderly couples house.
They waved to her as she left down the street toward the trucks where everyone was being loaded into. Judith couldn't find any of the girls amongst the men on the road but a hand tapped her on her head from one of the trucks, she looked up to see Liebgott offering her a hand up. With one last look around she took his hand as he helped her up onto the truck and she squeezed in between him and Malarkey holding her gun between her legs as she looked to her hands. There were bite marks on some of her fingers from her nerves.
"Eileen is with Monique on a truck a few down and Joyce is with Eugene. They are going over some last medic studying." Don noticed her fingers too and wanted to relieve some of her stress.
A sigh escaped Judiths mouth.
"Thanks Don." She smiled at him with tired eyes.
After a few more minutes they were on their way to Upottery where they would be loading into the aircrafts ready to jump into Normandy. Despite wanting to sleep, Judith just couldn't close her eyes the entire journey there. Instead her head kept down as she fiddled with her fingers in her lap. She thought she'd been in the truck for hours once they had finally arrived, being ushered off and into their respectful platoons. Beside her walked Joe Liebgott as they followed the rest of 2nd platoon. Buck Compton led 2nd platoon through the airfield toward some tents.
"2nd platoon listen up. I want 1st squad in A side tents, right there." Buck pointed to the designated tents.
Judith left the group and headed for the A side tents with Guarnere, Malarkey and Ranney. Her nerves had gone through the roof as Monique should be with her but still hadnt shown up into the tent since she had arrived. Bill had offered comfort to the small woman by reassuring her the three women were more than capable of caring for themselves and can kick anyones ass if it needed to be done. It helped a small smile onto her face but fear still rushed into her mind.
Finally when Monique had entered the tent Judith rushed to hug the youngest girl, squeezing her tightly to her own body.
