Chapter 13

I went over to the window and both me and Thomas looked down at the water below.

"Do you think it would kill us?"-Thomas

"Not if it is deep enough. I don't know because I can't see how deep it goes though."

"Well it's the best chance we got."-Thomas

I look back at our group of jumpers, Newt I knew something was wrong with him and Minho also looked terrible. I just hope they were healthy enough to survive. As the door started to get open, Minho and Newt looked to Thomas for a plan.

"Do you have a plan?"-Minho

"Maybe."

They seemed to be willing with anything at the moment and I quickly went over to one of the desks and started messing around with some stuff as Thomas started to break the glass.

"What are you doing?"-Newt

"Giving them a little surprise."

I finish my concoction and as they open the door and the window breaks open I move to their side with my science experiment hiding behind me. All it needed was a sudden tension. They stepped towards us and I smashed the valve in front of them. I then pushed everyone out of the room as we saw a light blue smoke start coming out of the room we were just in.

On impact I felt my head turning, I had no idea which way was up or even if my head was attached. I didn't dare move for a moment and when I got the courage to, I went up for air.

I pulled myself up and out of the water and I was greeted by a hand. It was Newt and he helped me get to my feet.

"What the bloody hell was that?"-Newt

"Science, it won't kill them, it will make them blind for a little while though."

I laughed but we weren't out of danger as we all hoped. We gave up in defeat as guards stood before us. Although another most shocking thing happened to me today, I was happy to see Gally.

"Gally? Didn't I kill you?"-Minho

"No hard feelings."-Gally

"What a day."

We follow after Gally now. I was so done with everything going on today. I was going to be so happy when we were safe. I'll get to rest up and heal myself emotionally. Too many things were happening. Not to mention we still were playing the game of Cat and Mouse. We kept getting away but I am not going to lie, I am getting awfully tired of all this running and hiding. They were also piled up with emotions, anxiety, and fears. Not the greatest feelings.

Newt looked absolutely terrible and I looked at Gally who wasn't wearing my backpack.

"Where is my backpack?"

"I gave it to Brenda."-Gally

I groan as I look over at Newt. I was seriously beginning to worry especially since it seemed like it was getting worse. My biggest fear would be that it was the Flare. If it was that meant he had been hiding it from us for a while because this is stage two of the Flare. Stage one was aggressiveness, stage two was the physical signs of being ill. Stage three comes very soon after stage two as well.

"I need that backpack!"

"I'm sorry I don't have it."-Gally

The more I think about it the more I realize that Newt was not ok. I knew now while it was beginning to realize too late that he has the Flare. My worst fears were coming to life and I was not going to have it. Thomas went to help Newt up and as we walked the wall suddenly blew up. This was really not good, especially since it meant the guards would be showing up and we don't want them here. This was turning out terribly especially since we were having to hide once again. My worries were peaking immensely and I was so done with everything.

"Guys we need to go now!"-Gally

As we got leaving I kept my eyes on Newt. He was not about to get left out of my sight. Not now, not ever, we are going to leave this place together. We are going to wake up every morning with our friends waiting outside. It's not going to be this way.

I stayed with Thomas and Newt when the group was separated and tried my best to keep myself calm, I was having a severe anxiety attack right now and I was getting mad with myself because this was very bad timing. Not right now when Newt is turning into a crank.
