CHAP 62

Baek just huffed at Kris and offered a small smile at Granny.
He give a tentative smile to the group as well,his eyes lingering a little on Chanyeol.

Ah.how Chanyeol missed Baek.

Kris grinned at Chanyeol before he spoke to Bake,"Look,we change our "reunion"to the beach this morning.You should come toowith your friend."

"But it's your reunion,though?"
Baek asked,skeptically.

Tao shrugged."it's not really a formal gathering.Anyone's welcome,besides your really come to see our beach."

Baek was not on thr mood to put on a pleasant face and mingle with strangers.If Chanyeol's ex was there,all the more reason for him not to go.He glanced at Kai,and to his friend's credit Kai looked hesitantly.

But Kris and other shower their country with compliments that Baek thought it would be a waste
to miss them.Besides there might be a chance to be alone with Chanyeol.He perked up at the thought.

After breakfast they all set out for this reunion.As the group walked towards the beach,everyone formed a small group in twos and threes,all busy talking amoung themselves.Kai had no problem striking up a conversation with Tao,and the two they looked lije they had been best friends forever.That left Baek on his own,which was what he was aiming for.He hope to have a moment with Chanyeol,so he tried to hang back at the end of the line.

Baek met Chanyeol's eyes a couple of times,and he hope his roommate would understand his intention.He wanted to have a conversation with Chanyeol.Even a small talk would do.Or any interaction for that matter as long as it would somehow ease the mood between them.

But every time Chanyeol tried to change his pace to match Baek's one of his friends would spring up a topic and veer Chanyeol away from Baek.

They arrived at the beach without saying a  single word to each other.Baek felt comforted knowing that Chanyeol wanted to talk to him too.That was already a good sign.

Chanyeol's batchmates were already at the beach and had tarted setting up.Baek did a quick headcount,and there will be about fifteen more people.They called this a mini-reunion,but for Baek,this was already something big.

As subtle as he could,Baek scanned the faces once more and breath out a sigh of relief when he did not see Dara's among them.

After the introductions,everyone was free to pick an activity they liked.Some played mixed beach volleyball.Others went swimming.
With Tao's urging,Kai joined them as well.Leave it to him to make friends a few second after coming to a social gathering.

Baek decided to make himself useful and helped pass out snacks and drinks.He did not want anyone thinking that Chanyeol brought a freeloading guest.

"Why are you so busy?"Kris voice came from behind Baek.He had been swimming and playing games out there in the sea."You're our guest.You should be having fun.Come on,let's go for a swim.Or wait do you swim?"

Baek contemplated whether he should lie or not.But he realized that his pause made Kris suspicious and saw through Baek's ruse right away.

He shrugged,"alright"There was no harm in joining them,and maybe,moving his body would clear his mind.

"Good thing you know.Chanyeol would grill me if something happens to you."

Kai grinned at him when he saw Baek before someone dumped water on him.Kai retalieted,and the whole thing turned into a game.

Baek shook his head and
chuckled.He joined a few games and raced with tge guys.When he felt like he had already done everything he could that would satisfy Kris,he went back to the shore.

"Here,"Chanyeol saw Baek and passed the towel he was holding.
"I was on the way uh,somewhere."

Baek thanked his roommate when he saw the embroidered year on the towel."Is this customized?"

"Yep.A souvenir the organizers made for us.The organizers namely Kris,Tao--you met him this morning,and some of the girls,I forgot who.Our batch love to hang out there,so they thought it would be useful.Well,it does when they changed the setting here."Chanyeol finally breathed after speaking in one go and picked up something from the cooler."Anyway here's is your drink-some toast."

Baek blinked.staring dumbly at Chanyeol.His mind was still stuck at the realization that Chanyeol was rambling out of nervousness and how Baek found it so endearing.When he looked at his hands and found food,he bit his lip to stop himselp from smiling like an idiot.Of course,food.
Chanyeol's life mission was to feed Baek.He glances back up at Chanyeol who only shrugged.

"I took some Granny's table food before we left.I thought you like them more than the snacks they brought.I'm not saying the food here isn't good!But--"Chanyeol wrung his hand as he tried hard to explain.

Baek chewed his lower lip harder,
trying so hard to surpress his smile.Part of him wanted to be decent human being and just say his thanks.But another part of him,a really big part,wanted to throw common sense away and give Chanyeol a bear hug,
wrapping his arms tightly around the other guy and never let go.

"You're laughing at me."Chanyeol pretended to be offended,but the corner of his mouth were vurving upwards.

Baek widened his eyes at being caught and shook his head,all the while keeping his ecpression neutral,"I'm not!Of course,this is better.Like how your recipes are always delicious."

Chanyeol chuckled,and Baek jouned him.Their eyes met as Chanyeol's expression turnes serious."Baek--"

"Oh good,Chanyeol,you're here,"Dara called out fr behind them.

Chanyeol closed his eyes and sighed,trying his best to keep his composure.When he opened them again,he found Baek staring at him wide-eyed.Baek's expression flickered between frustration and annoyance.
Chanyeol opened his mouth to speak to his roommate again when  hand snaked around his arm.
