CHAP 41

Baek rolled his eyes"We can see always each other outside."

"You're welcome to visit us anytime"Chanyeol pitched in with less enthusiasm.

The door shut sounding louder than it actually was in the now quite place.Baek could not read the atmosphere at all and it was killing him to think that it was he who might have caused this mood.He braced himself and said,
"Hey---"

Chanyeol turned abruptly that it caught Baek by surprise.For a moment he forgot what he was supposed to say.He stood there blinking and gaping like a fish,as he searched for words.

His roommate waited with eyes cast low as if he was studying the floor.He looked tenser than Baek even if he tried to play it cool

The words would not come to Baek but he did not need to ask Chanyeol beat him to say it.

"Are you okay?"

'That is a good question,'Baek wanted to say.He wanted to know the answer to that too.But he could not give that kind of flippant answer.Not when Chanyeol looked grave and waiting.As if everything hangs on
Baek's response.

"I'm fine,I'm okay."Baek smiled in what he hope to be a reassuring smile.

Chanyeol did not look like he was reassured.

"Is this about the kiss earlier?I already know about them.Is that what's bothering you?"

Chanyeol frawned."What?No,of course not.It's not about that.
Well---its related to that--"He sighed and leaned on the wall as if the strength left his body.

Irratation and frustration flared inside Baek."You know,"Baek drew out a long breath and tried to compose himself."If...if the problem lies with me,then I'd rather you say so.I'd appreciate the honesty."

His roommate run his fingers on
his hair,looking as exasperated as Baek ."No,aren't you the one who has problem with me?"

Baek frowned.

"You see,I invite your friends with out consulting you and with the knowledge of---" Chanyeol made vague hand gestures that Baek assumed to be about his feelings.
"There's a possibility that you would see what--what we had seem earlier.I didn't consider you ."He sounded stifled.

Baek shoudn't have been surprise thay Chanyeol knew about Kai but he was.He laughed without mirth."Oh right.I mention his name that night."

"You didn't have to.It's easy to see how you look at him when you were at the bar together."

Startled.Baek startled at Chanyeol,not knowing how to react.He thought he hid his feelings for Kai well.No one knew except for Lea.Biut what surprised him the most was that Chanyeol notive him even though they had not met yet.He did not know what to say to that.

Instead,he said,"Thank you.Thank you for considering my f-feelings.
I admit,It was a bit weird but it's not like I can avoid them forever.
Plus you were there so it was easier.You're life saver."Baek grinned.

But Chanyeol mantained his frown."You were dreading it.

"Only because I thought you didn't like them here!"

"Well"Chanyeol trailed.

"See!"

"No!that's not--"Chanyeol groaned
in frustration ."So,you're really okay?"

Baek nodded."How about you?"

"What?"

"You seemed....different lately
A little off.Did something happen?
If it's not about the sleepover then."Baek bit his lower lip as he thought.He did not want to say it but he had been dying to know.
"Maybe something happened with the person you liked."

"Someone I like?"Chanyeol narrowed his eyes at Baek,head tilting.

"I don't know if you remember,
but I stumbled upon Karen's confession and you mentioned someone you like...."

"That's just a spur of the moment thing,"Chanyeol said to quickly.

It was as goodas a confirmation
and Baek sagged a little at that,
though he tried not to be so obvious about it.Maybe it was better like that,to protect himself
and their relationship right now.
It was good for all parties involved.

Baek started hard at the piece of paper in front of him.It was his quiz paper and at the topr right corner waa his score written and encircled with red ink.He stared
and stared as if he could tattoo what was written to his mind before pressing his eyeshut.

He failed the quiz earlier.Evwn after studying non-stop,barely getting any sleep,He still flunked that quiz.To be fair no one from their class passed.Out of 10
points.The class top got .Baek was lucky enough to be in the group
who got 2 points.As one of his classmate pointed out,atleast they
had a score.

Baek could only sigh and bury his head once more in his notes and books.But not having enough
sleep  and tirelessly studying all day and night,his brain give up on him and his concentration
slipped.

His hand reach for his phone and opened his messages.Chanyeol texted him,telling Baek that his grandmother was alright,that he got to his shift on time and asked Baek about his quiz.

"Should we take a break?How about eating atthe cafe?"Baek told  Chen as he swiped absent-
mindedly at the other messages.

Chen finished typing his message first before replying."We should done that earlier.If seeing Chanyeol would make you that happy,then lets go."Chen said nonchantly as he picked up his bag.

Baek raised his head from his phone and gaped at his friend.
"I'm not---not happy.And how did you know that I was texting Chanyeol?"

"You just said so.Besides,the only other thing that worried you this morning was about Chanyeol's grandmother.'Would his grandmother be okay?What do you think?"Chen copied Baek's voice in an exaggerated way."You asked that every minute.Well,you
looked happy so I guess everything work out alright.

Baek scowled at his friend.He thought of what happened this morming as they got out of the library.Chanyeol got a call that his grandmother was hospitalized.He was usually compossed but he paled after hearing the news.Baek was in hurry because of his class so he could not stay behind and console his roommate.But he kept on worrying about Chanyeol,
Knowing how important she was to him.Also because of that,
Chanyeol was late for his shift in the cafe.He seemed to have waited for the news from his parents who rushed to the country side after hearing the news.
