EMBER YAWNED AS SHE SAT UP, the morning sun hitting her face as she lazily got up and walked to the bathroom after giving Luz a kiss on the forehead.
Ember closed the door behind her as she began brushing her teeth, groaning at her messy appearance. Ember set down her toothbrush and began working through her hair as Luz drowsily walked into the bathroom.
"Good morning, Em..." Luz yawned, stretching her arms as Ember set down her brush and handed Luz her already prepared toothbrush. "Oh, thanks!"
"No problem," Ember smiled, setting her brush down and grabbing a hair tie as she leaves Luz alone, "I'm gonna change, so don't come out for a minute!" Luz throws her a thumbs up before continuing to brush her teeth.
Ember walks out and takes off her pajamas, slipping into her everyday clothes as Luz walks out and begins to change herself and Ember walks down onto the kitchen, grabbing the locket on their dresser on the way out.
Ember opens the locket as she walks down the hallway, staring fondly at picture of her, her mother, her brother and Luz. It's a picture of the four of them the one time they went to the carnival back in the human realm.

"LUZ, I DON'T FEEL TOO GOOD..." An eight year Ember groaned, holding a hand over her mouth as Luz steadied her as they exited the ride.
"Oh, Em," An also, eight year old Luz laughs, throwing Ember's arm over her shoulder, "Let's go get some water! I think your mom packed some." Luz smiled softly at her.
Ember shook her head, sitting on a nearby bench, "I think I'll wait here if you get the water," Ember smiles up at Luz, "If that's okay with you, of course."
Luz waves her hands, reassuring her, "Nah, it's cool. Just be safe while I find your mom. Turn on your location, don't talk to strangers, and—"
"And stay put," Ember finishes with a chuckle, shooing her friend away. "Yes, Yes. I know, Luz."
Luz shakes her head with a grin, waving as she runs off to find Ember's mom, Alessia. Ember sits and waits, picking at the chipped paint on the bench before hearing voices from behind a booth.
"Did you see that girl, Luz and her friend Ember the other day?" A girls voice cackled as Ember left her spot and peeked around the edge of the tent. "Such losers, I can't believe they act like that normally!"
