IN THE LIVING ROOM, King is on Ember's phone on the couch while Luz and Ember sat on the floor, trying out a new glyph.
"Come on, work this time!" Luz mumbled as the two girls drew the symbol once again. They look at each other with a nod as they tap the glyph, making a flower sprout. "Yes!" Luz exclaimed as her and Ember high-fived, embracing before turning to King with grins.
"Check it out, King: our glyph skills are blossoming!" Ember squeals, gesturing to the flowers they just made.
"You think that's impressive? Check this out!" King exclaimed, making Ember and Luz crawl next to King, "Two warriors battling to the death!" On the phone, two cats mew calmly. Ember and Luz look over to see the door to the human realm is open.
"Ah. I see we're getting enough Wi-Fi through the portal for cat videos." Luz chuckles.
"Senseless violence, yes, attack! Death is your god!" King exclaims, looking at Ember's phone with a pleased expression.
"I regret teaching you about the Internet." Ember sighed, making Luz laugh.
"Hah! What possible regrets could come from the internet- Oh! Did you know that the Earth is actually flat?" King asked as Luz and Ember glanced at each other.
Ember snatched her phone back, "Yep, that's not right." Her phone vibrates in her hand as Luz's vibrates from the couch side table.
The screen shows a text from their moms that read, "How's camp today, cariño? <3, Mamá." and "How's camp going? And how's Luz? Your brother and I both miss you dearly, piccola! :) <3" Ember and Luz gulp and begins to type out a response, deleting it and sending a thumbs-up emoji instead.
"Good enough." Ember muttered as King crawls over to see what they both sent.
"Ah, severed hands! Perfect responses." King cheers as Luz flops down onto the couch, putting a pillow over her face as Ember slides down onto the floor and curls herself into a ball, hiding her face in her knees.
"Ugh! What am we supposed to say?" Luz groaned, sitting up with a fake grin. "Hey mom, not at camp actually! I'm in the demon realm learning to be a witch!" Luz chuckled nervously as she stood up and walked to the center of the room.
"Also, did you know that demons and magic are real?" Ember added, her face dropping. "They. Will. End us."
"Nah, she'd be freaked out by our world anyway." King said, patting Ember's head. "So actually, by keeping the truth from them, you're doing them a favor!"
