Chapter 13 -Luke-

-Luke's P.O.V-

"Is Maddie ready yet?" My mum asked as I tried to do my tie for the third time.

"Nearly, she was just getting her shoes and bag" I said and she nodded before turning me round to do my tie.

"How do you live without me?"

"I wish I knew" I kissed her cheek before lacing up my shoes. It was Jack's wedding and I don't think I've ever dressed up so much in my life. Celeste had made me promise that I would wear dress shoes and a suit. Reluctantly, I did. We had to leave in five minutes and we were currently waiting on Maddie. I stood with my parents by the front door. I heard the bedroom door open then shut and the clicking of heels against the stairs. I looked up to see Maddie stood on the bottom step.

"You look beautiful" I told her as I walked over to the steps.

"You look pretty handsome yourself"

"We might be the best looking couple at the wedding"

"Or maybe Jack and Celeste"

"They don't count" I told her and she laughed.

"Let us get a picture then" My mum said.

"Why?"

"Because we want a picture of you two together. We haven't got one" She quickly took a couple of pictures before we got into the car.

We walked into the church and saw quite a few people already there. I took hold of Maddie's hand, leading her to the front row where we were sat with my parents and Ben.

"Are you sure it's alright for me to sit here? I'm not family"

"Of course it's fine, you're with me" She smiled and Jack walked over to us.

"I'm nervous"

"Of course you are, it's normal"

"Even when you've been together for years?"

"Just calm down, everything will be fine" We were then told that Celeste had just arrived. Jack quickly hugged all of us before taking his place.

"Luke, can you look after Zoe for a while?" My Aunt asked. I nodded, taking my little cousin from her. She was only three. I sat her on my lap and felt her tap my nose.

"Who's this?" Maddie asked as she sat down next to me. My mum had previously took her away for some reason.

"This is Zoe, Zoe say hello to Maddie"

"'Hi" She mumbled into my chest.

"Why are you being so shy? You're never this quiet" I asked, ticking her. She let out a squel and a few more giggles. She eventually stopped laughed and turned to look at Maddie.

"You're pretty"

"Thank you, so are you"

"Are you Lukey's girlfriend?" She asked, we both nodded. Zoe then turned around and started poking me again. "I'm tired"

"Go to sleep then. We don't mind" I told her and she leant her head on my chest.

"You're good with kids" Maddie told me once Zoe's breathing had steadied.

"Thanks. I like kids, they're cute"

"Oh yeah, they're real cute when they're throwing up"

"Apart from that. I like it when they're Zoe's age" Maddie smiled as I looked down at Zoe. "Do you want kids?"

"Of course. I'm excited for the days when you're married with kids"

"Me too. Maybe that'll be us together"

"Maybe" She said before pressing a kiss to my cheek then my lips.

"Do you want to dance?" I asked Maddie.

"You can't dance to save your life, Lucas"

"Come on" I pleaded, pulling her up from the table and leading her to the dance floor where other couples were dancing. We were three quarters into the night already now. The next song was slow luckily and I pulled Maddie with me, placing my hands on her waist and hers settled on my shoulders.
We slowly swayed to the music, neither of us breaking eye contact.

"You've improved, Hemmings"

"I do try"

"You see that woman over there, with the lilac dress?" I nodded. "She keeps biting her lip and looking at you. Do you know her?"

"Celeste's family I think" I told her. "But I guess all the girls want me" She laughed, leaning back slightly before placing her head on my shoulder. I kissed the top of her head before she stood up properly again.

"Princess?"

"Yeah?"

"You're amazing, you know that right?"

"You continue to tell me and I continue not to believe you but go on"

"Well, you should believe me and when I say you're beautiful as well, because you truly are"

"Luke, where is this going?"

"To be honest, I'm not quite sure but I like that about us. I like that we're care free and can talk for hours about random crap" She went quiet for a while.

"I'm glad we met because I couldn't be happier"

"I love you, princess"

"I love you too, Luke" We smiled before I leaned in to kiss her. She kissed back and we pulled away after no more that 5 seconds because of everyone that was stood around watching us. I guess it was kind of weird for my family to suddenly have another person turn up and be my girlfriend. The song ended and we walked back over to the long table at the front and sat down.

"I feel like I'm being judged by every one of your family"

"They haven't met you, they're probably just confused to why you're here. They just don't know how great you are"

"I love you, Luke, I really do. You're so supportive and kind. I'm surprised you didn't already have a girlfriend when we met"

"I didn't have time for one"

"And now you do?"

"For you, always"
