Desiree's POV

So I had been soft enough to let my old friends back into my life. And now my life had somewhat taken it's old shape again. And my friends never changed, even through all of the popularity.

I was sleeping in my warm and comfortable queen-sized bed, peaceful, when someone knocked hard and loud on the house's door. I shot up from my pillow and groaned.

"Who would come at this time? It's like freaking seven in the morning!" I muttered angrily as I walked to open the door. The person knocked rapidly again. I yanked open the door. My two friends were standing on the other side with a huge smiles and large bags.

"What the heck, guys? I was trying to get some sleep!" I said, putting my arm in front of the ray of sunshine blaring in my eyes.

"Sleep's for losers," Haley said enthusiastically.

"Yeah, we woke up at five in the morning to get ready for the day!" Lillia exclaimed.

"And so what are you guys doing at my house right now?"

"We are going to fix up and make you beautiful!" Lillia squealed.

"Why? I'm fine!"

Haley rolled her eyes and put her hands on her hips. "Do people actually notice you and think you are beautiful?"

"No, but-"

"Exactly! That's why we're here to help you so you can be noticed in public!"

"But-"

"First, lets get you changed," Lillia said happily and stepped into the house with Haley following her. Haley grabbed my wrist and dragged me to my room. They dumped the stuff in their huge bags on my bed: hair curlers, brushes, combs, various types of makeup and hair products, bracelets, necklaces, dresses, skirts, shirts, jeans, shoes, and a bunch of other stuff.

"Okay, first things first. I need to know your 'vibes'. What are your talents?" Haley asked.

"You guys already know!"

"Dez, we haven't been in your life for seven years. We can't exactly remember."

"Art hands down, tumbling, self-defense for sure, and... yeah."

"Can't you sing?" Haley frowned.

"Mmm... I can..."

"Let us hear it."

"What? No! I have barely sung since I was nine!"

"Do it, do it, do it!" they chanted. I groaned.

"Fine, what do you want me to sing?"

"Keep Your Head Up by Andy Grammer!"

"Seriously? Can I just sing a little bit of it?" They nodded, disappointed.

I took a deep breath and began.

I've been waiting on the sunset

Bills on my mindset

I can't deny they're gettin' high

Higher than my income

my income's breadcrumbs

I've been trying to survive

The glow that the sun gives

Right around sunset

Helps me realize

This is just a journey
