Desiree's POV

"DESI-BAE, LET'S GO!" Jake shouted and motioned for me to get into the car.

I ran as fast as I could with my large paintings in my hands and my backpack down to the car.

"I'm coming, I'm coming," I panted.

"Place it in the back and get in the front."

"'Desi-bae?' Really, Jake?" I asked, raising my eyebrows and fastened my seatbelt.

"Yes, Desi-bae. I am going to be calling you that for the rest of my life," he said and grinned.

"Whatever, let's just go," I said and rolled my eyes.

"Hey, that's a pretty legit nickname, you know. My name is just Jake. There really isn't anything that makes it special," he pointed out and stepped on the gas pedal. (A/N I beg of you people don't sing the song/comment it I swear)

"Well, I mean there's always Jake the dog from Adventure Time," I joked and punched his shoulder lightly.

"True, but yours is so much better," he said and pouted.

We started to try and come up with a better nickname for Jake, even as we walked to our class.

"Jay-Juh... um... I give up, it's impossible to come up with a good nickname for you, bud," I finally admitted. Jake started to fake cry and I rubbed circles on his back.

We sat down in our chairs (which were right next to each other) and chatted about random stuff until class started.

"Oh my God, your painting is so cool. Mine is so bad," Jake gasped and pointed at my half-done picture of a rose.

"It's not even done yet, though. Your's is pretty cool as well," I said gestured toward his painting of an amaryllis.

"Sure, mine is soooo great," he said sarcastically, dragging the "o".

"Hey, don't put yourself so low. Your's is beautiful."

"Well, how do I not? You're literally the art goddess," he said and crossed his arms.

"Then you can be the art god," I replied and continued to paint the rose's stem.

He shrugged and nodded. "True."

We painted our pictures and placed them on the counter when the bell rang.

"Isn't your school prom coming up?" Jake asked as we walked out the door.

"Oh, yeah, I guess so," I said blankly.

I had completely forgotten about prom.

"Are you planning on going?" I shrugged.

"I don't know. I mean, I'm not dating Lachlan anymore, so it might be awkward if I didn't have a date."

"You could go with Haley and Lillia," he suggested.

"I guess... but I'm not too sure. Everything going on is just..." My voice trailed off.

"I think you should go. Maybe it's good just to ditch your problems and just have fun."

"Maybe... so are you going to your prom?" I decided to leave that subject alone.
