Desiree's POV

Lachlan and I have been dating for about two weeks. We told the guys, minus Preston since we didn't want to bother him, and they all immediately had huge smiles on their faces. Except Mitch. Well, his expression sort of flickered when we told him. Like as if he was deciding if he should smile or frown. But besides that, everyone else was happy for us.

I was in my room, casually doing my homework, when my phone loudly vibrated. I jumped in alarm, then grabbed my phone.

It was AVID again, and a smile already started forming on my face. I opened up the message, and they were telling me that the district's newsletter people wanted to interview me because of the artwork I've been doing the past weeks. I had been doing posters, pictures, and backgrounds for school plays and AVID activities. The interview was on Friday, and luckily I didn't have much to do that day. I replied gladly and went back to finishing my tedious reading homework.

I finished about two hours later, then I put everything back into my backpack. I looked out the window, which was covered with droplets of rain. Out of the blurriness, I saw a figure sitting on the steps of our house, ignoring the amount of rain falling on his or her head. I went out to go investigate, grabbing an umbrella.

Mitch's POV

I sat in the cold pouring rain, thinking about everything. Desiree is dating Lachlan. And I was so heartbroken. I had to fake a smile to cover up my sadness when I heard about it. Now I'm depressed. Knowing that the girl I loved was loving someone else. I'm barely posting videos. I can't bring myself to do it.

I closed my eyes, letting an occasional tear get washed off by the rain. Suddenly the rain stopped. I opened my eyes and looked up. An umbrella was covering me from the water. Then Desiree appears, holding the umbrella over us. She sat down, not caring that her clothes were going to get soaked in rain.

"What are you doing out here in the cold rain?" she asked. I stayed silent.

"C'mon, Mitch, what's wrong?" she asked gently and put her hand on my leg. I sighed.

"There's this girl... I met her a little while ago...and I love her, a lot," I begin. Desiree smiles.

"That's great! Tell me more."

"The only thing is... is that she is in love with someone else. Now I-I'm devastated. And I can't get over her," I said sadly. Desiree's smile disappears.

"I'm sorry, Mitch... I hope that she realizes that she should like you over that guy. You are probably ten times better than that guy. She's dumb if she doesn't go for you. You'll get her soon. You're a great guy. She'll realize soon, I promise, Mitch," she tells me and kisses my cheek.

"Thanks, Desiree," I said softly. She smiles at me and ruffles my hair.

"Here, take the umbrella, I'm going to head inside. You should come in soon, too, Mitch. It's freezing out here," she said and turned to head back inside.

I stayed out in the rain for a few more minutes, thinking about what she said.

"She'll realize soon, I promise, Mitch... I hope so, Desiree..."

Desiree POV

It was Friday, the day the district newsletter people were going to interview me.

And to be honest, I was hella scared.

I changed into a white peplum top with black polka dots, black skinny jeans, and I slipped on three inch black heels. I curled my hair and let it tumble down my shoulders. I put on the necklace Lachlan had given me shortly after we had gotten into a relationship. It was a gold locket, though I had no idea how it opens. There was a keyhole in the middle, but Lachlan had never given me the key.
