Amber POV
A week after prom, Hayes and I graduated from high school. We recieved our diplomas. My parents, Olivia, and Will had all been there to witness it. Hayes had invited Nash but he'd chosen not to show. I know Hayes was hurting a little that both of his parents weren't able to see him graduate but Will helped. And me.
It was now a week after that, a Friday. Hayes, Cam, Ben, Danielle, Reb, and I had hung out almost everyday since we got out. Hayes and I were the only ones going to college together. It was so weird thinking were going to college in a few months, that we just graduated high school.
My parents were both at work so I texted the squad group chat to see if they wanted to hang out.
Danielle: date with Ben. tomorrow though?
Hayes: gotta work tonight srry bae
Reb: aw he called you bae^ cant family game night
Ben: yes danielle is correct 😏
Cam: well im free😂
I laugh when I see how busy everyone is then Cam's just alone like me. He's actually become a really good friend though, like one of my best guy friends.
He texts again,
Cam: you wanna just binge together then? If that's okay with you Hayes
Hayes: hands to urself
I text back laughing that that'd be cool and Cam arrives at my house 10 minutes later. We're basically best friends and stuff but we never hang out just together with Reb or Hayes. It should be fun though.
"Well hello fellow loner." I say opening the door and he laughs and bows cheesily.
"Can we actually get some food though?" He asks not stepping in the house and I quickly agree following him back out to his car after slipping on some flip flops.
It's a short drive to chipotle and we're listening to music the whole time so it's not awkward.
After getting through the quick line and both of us getting chicken burritos, we find a small table and sit across from each other.
"You know what bothers me?" I ask while unwrapping my burrito.
"What bothers you Amber Rhodes?" He replies snacking on a tortilla chip.
"When couples sit on the same side of the booth and leave the other side empty."
"I KNOW RIGHT!" Cam explains loudly throwing down a chip in aggravation. A couple people look over at the random outburst but he completely ignores. Thats one of the things I love most about Cam, he doesn't give a damn about anything. Like when he sang to Reb in front of a crowded food court.
"Like it just makes the waiter feel awkward cause you're sitting on the same side and you're wasting half the table and you're both like facing a wall and I hate that oh my god." He rants and when he finishes, ferociously bites into his burrito.
I laugh at his strong feeling for my pet peeve and say, "Didn't know you felt that strongly." He shrugs and I laugh again.
We eat in silence for awhile but it's not really awkward. It's kind of nice getting to know Cam a little better rather than always being in a huge group.
"So how're you and Reb?" I ask when we're both just eating chips when we're full but they're too good to stop.
"It's great." He responds smiling a little. "I really love her."
