Hayes POV
Amber and I sit on her bed staring at the glittering platinum jewelry set my mom has left me. No it's not to wear of course, she told me to sell it, to have money for myself.
I had no clue my mom even owned this. She never showed me or mentioned it. Was she just keeping it randomly or planned to give it to me when she died?
And when did she write the note? Did she know she was dying and knew I would need it?
"It's beautiful." Amber comments looking at the bracelet, necklace, and earring set. "Do you know how much it's worth?"
I shake my head. Maybe my mom was saving it for Nash and I's college fund. Well mine now. But she gave it to me.
"Maybe 10 grand or so?" I tell Amber as she's on her phone doing something I don't know what. She looks at the jewelry then back at the screen if her phone then back to the jewelry.
"Maybe 742,000 or so." She says showing me her phone. On the screen is the exact same jewelry set that my mom gave me with the price listed beneath it:
$742,483.99
"What the f-" I say gasping.
"What the fuck." Amber says interrupting me..
"Is this life?" I ask her as we lay down together on her huge voice.
"Well it's not death." She answers and I wince thinking how my mom is now in that state. Amber realizes what she just said and her expression turns worried. "Hayes I didn't mean to-"
"It's okay Amber." I say because it is, she didn't mean to.
"No I really-"
I silence her with a kiss. "Shut up." I wrap my arms around her waist so glad that I have her at a time like this.
"I'll shut up anyday if that's how you do it." Amber whispers.
"You're so thirsty." She laughs and we don't say anything for awhile. I think how I'm not alone, even when my mom, dad, and brother have left.
Amber, this girl I met in a park while picking up trash is here for me. Amber, this girl who I pinned against a locker is here for me. Amber, this girl who's boyfriend I knocked unconsious and pretty much took all of the blood out of his noes is here for me. Amber, this girl who forgave me for all of those things is here for me. Amber, this girl who also forgave me for when I cut myself again and promised not to is here for me.
Amber, the girl I love is here for me.
"Hey, can I sleep over?" I ask after a while of just laying there with my arms around her.
"Nah you're good." She says laughing.
"Have I told you that you're a very sarcastic person?"
"Nah never." I roll my eyes wondering how I've been blessed enough to end up with someone so perfect.
Eventually, Amber opens her laptop and we start watching some American Horror Story because that show is just fantastic.
"Evan Peters is so hot." Amber comments while laying on my chest.
"Yes, you're totally not laying on your boyfriend right now." I say playing with her hair. It's really beautiful, this pretty brown with soft waves. I'm quite obsessed with it to be honest.
"Have I ever told you that you're a very sarcastic person?" She asks tilting her head up to look at me.
"Shut up." Then remembering how she likes to be shut up, I kiss her. She laughs and I do too.
