We stared at each other in total shock, before I launch myself into his arms. "Oh my God! How are you here? Why are you here?" We both shout at the same time. I pull away with a giggle, my eyes catching his blue ones as I jump back into his arms.
"Lakey! I can't believe you're here! There is so much going on!" I clutched him tight, my thirst and hunger completely forgotten. He slowly pushed me away, taking a step back with a pained expression.
"How's your thirst?" He asks softly, his blue eyes filled with worry. I look down, shrugging.
"It's fine. I'm sorry I couldn't say goodbye to you guys when you left. I was worried I'd accidentally kill you, especially with you being human." I whisper, he pulls me back into his bone-crushing hug.
"Uh, what's going on?" Vivien asks in confusion, Silver and Emma laugh, grinning.
"That's her cousin. The night they were reunited, her and her mate, Fleetwood, were attacked at their Winter Ball. She, uh, was controlled by the matebond and ended up slaughtering many humans and a few vampires." Silver says quietly, beginning to fill her in on everything. Everyone in the kitchen stops to listen to Silver's story, watching me out of the corner of their eyes.
"Why are you here? What's going on?" Lake asks worriedly, pulling away to observe my face.
"There's a rebellion against Fleetwood. They won't tell us why, just empty excuses that humans are getting restless and they are being belittled by magical creatures. I could see that coming from a place like this, but all the reports I received was that everyone was happy. They were in the city's square and even surrounded the Palace!" I grew more hysterical as my story went on, clutching my hair and pulling it in stress.
"So, Fleet made me pack and get everyone ready to run! We made a speech and then on our way here, which I didn't know where we were going, we were followed and I had to run and then I had to go hunting when we arrived because my thirst got the better of me! The woman who owns this place is Fleet's mother and we despise each other! I just hate today!" I ranted, his face grew more horrified with each word until the last couple sentences. He chuckled, kissing my forehead tenderly.
"Everything'll be fine. Fleetwood has always taken care of you, even when you should have been returned to us." He muttered the last part, I look away from him and see everyone staring at me in utter shock.
"You're the Queen!" Vivien gasped in shock, everyone immediately dropping into bows and curtsies. I sigh, admiring the beautiful kitchen. It has barely any windows, but it has lots of counters and storage space for food.
"Please, don't do that. I've always hated people doing that. I just want to be treated like a normal person." I beg slightly, Lake nudges me with a disappointed look in his eyes.
"Why didn't you call us?" He scolds, I look away in shame.
"I was afraid you thought differently of me. You know, since I can't control my thirst." I mutter, Silver and Emma step closer with pained expressions.
"Uh, we had to help... train her. It was horrible, and we recommend you try to be careful with her." Silver says quietly, Lake glares at him.
"Don't tell me what to do! You're not even her real brother!" Lake spits, I gasp and step in between them as they get close and ready to fight.
"Woah! Woah! Woah! Lake, Silver is my brother by love. Emma is my sister by love. My brother died, Lake, your cousin died. I don't remember shit about my brother, only that I loved him and I miss him. But that doesn't give you a fucking right to say anything to Silver!" I say harshly, he turns his glare on me.
