Five Years Later...
I'm twelve and Warrior, is five. Warrior is my cougar that protects me at school. Warrior and I go for a run in the mornings, and then after school we train until four. After that, I'm allowed to do whatever I want. Silver and Emma are fifteen and hate to spend time with me, but I'm fine with it. I like my freedom.
Today, Tanner said he wanted to tell me something during lunch. Ben and Ivy are now dating each other, and Tara and Harry both decided to not be our friends anymore. Now, our friend group is down to Ivy, Ben, and Tanner.
When Fleet came back after those two weeks five years ago, he started to take time off work and doing stuff with me. Friday, I'm skipping school so Fleet can take me camping. I seriously can't wait!
Warrior nudges me awake. I groan but get up, I put on my jogging pants and tank top. I brush my curly hair up into a ponytail. I walk downstairs, take a long gulp of water, and then I'm out the back door and running on my trail through the woods. The sun was just coming up from behind the mountains, the birds were waking and twittering above our heads, and flowers were beginning to open up.
All you could hear was the birds singing, and our footfalls. My panting breath's escaped my mouth as I forced myself to go harder. Warrior gently nudged me and pointedly looked to the right. Someone is near, on my right. I wave a signal to Warrior, showing he would go right and I would go left. I then did a circle motion with my hand, showing we would circle the person. Warrior nodded and slinked away from me.
I went left, off the path, and circled around until I heard running footsteps ahead of me. I saw a flash of Warrior, he ran in front of the person. I raced to behind the guy or girl and we circled the frightened person. They were covered in black with a small hunting knife in their hand. Warrior growled five short growls, saying that the person had five hidden weapons but they were small.
I nodded, pleased.
"Who are you?" I demanded, the person shook in fear. I could tell the person was mostly watching Warrior, I smiled slightly.
"I-I'm K-Kai, miss." The boy stuttered out fearfully.
I nodded to show I understood, "Why are you here?" I asked, softening my voice slightly.
He cowered away from me, "I d-didn't know a-anyone l-lived here. I th-thought this was f-free land." He whispered.
Warrior glanced at me and sat down, showing he trusted Kai. I nodded and stopped scaring the boy. He couldn't be any older than fourteen. "I'm Tanya. Look, I hate to break it to you kid... but you're on the Palace Grounds. I need to take you to F... the King." I said. He slumped in defeat, and slowly nodded.
I motioned for him to take off the black scarf. He unwrapped the scarf from his face, showing that he had a dark tan, black hair, and dark brown eyes. I smiled a bit, and loosely grabbed his wrist. "Don't worry, I'll try to get him off your back. Everyone here is my friend." I reassure him, he gives me a shy nod.
I keep a hold of his wrist as I walk us back to the Palace. When we come into view, a few werewolf guards growl at him. I dismiss their concern with a wave of my hand, they bow their heads. Annie races out, "Picking up strays I see, Tanya." She teases, I stick my tongue out at her.
"Warrior and I found him. We asked him who he was and why he was here. His name is Kai and he didn't know this place was owned. Warrior confirmed he was saying the truth." I say, she nods.
"My King won't be happy." Annie warns, I shrug.
"If he wants to go camping this weekend, he won't hurt the kid." I counter, Annie smiles with mischief dancing in her eyes.
