50| a sweet tragedy

"Tom Marvolo Riddle, you better have a good reason to wake me up at 5 a.m. in a school morning," Seraphina complained while she was being dragged by her wrist on the empty halls, "It's still dark outside. Why do you hate me this much?"

It was the beginning of March, but it was still a very cold morning and all Seraphina wanted was to be inside her warm bedsheets, sleeping peacefully. Instead, Tom went to her dorm to wake her up, and dragged her outside the common room, without telling her where they were going.

She barely had any time to get ready for the day, which explained why her face didn't contain any makeup. Most girls her age didn't bother to put on makeup every morning, but she felt naked and vulgar when she didn't have her eyeliner or her foundation.

Tom, however, would rather see her without any makeup, so natural and pure, so perfect. The freckles covering her face made her look younger and innocent, almost as if she wasn't planning on conquering the world with him.

"I'm hungry!" She protested as they kept walking towards wherever they were going, "Please tell me you are going to take me somewhere so we eat a very nice breakfast, because I'm starving."

"We can do that as well, if you want. But I have to show you something before class," he said, without looking at her and starting to walk faster.

"Why can't we do it after? Class starts in two hours, Tom, we still have time to sleep," she tried to persuade him, but it was impossible, he was too determined on whatever he wanted to do.

"Don't be lazy, Seraphina, procrastination is not for people like you and me," he said, pulling her with him towards a big staircase.

She huffed following him with an unhappy look, "Then maybe next time don't force me to stay up with you until 1 a.m., just so you have company to study."

Tom turned around to look at her with his eyebrows raised, "Stay up with me? You fell asleep on the couch while I was doing your homework," he reminded her with a harsh voice.

"Now, now, Tommy, don't be like that. We both know how much doing homework and studying excites you. You should be thanking me, actually," she yawned, allowing him to pull her with him, she was too sleepy to walk properly.

"Stop complaining, we're almost there, " Seraphina got quiet for a while, but she still wasn't happy about what he did. At least she knew he wasn't taking her to the Chamber of Secrets, for they were going up, instead of descending towards the girls' lavatory on the first floor.

After a few quiet minutes, they finally stopped walking, standing in front of a big wall with nothing on it, making Seraphina frown, "What are we doing here, Tom?" She glanced around the space, trying to see if there was anything or anyone in there, but it was empty.

"Close your eyes," he said, squeezing her wrist.

"What? No, why would I? First, you drag me here when it's not even 6 a.m., and now you want me to-" she started arguing with him, but he glared at her, interrupting her.

"Stop being a brat and do as I say," he spoke harshly, watching her impassive face, "Darling, trust me," he asked her in a soft voice, knowing she wouldn't do what he asked her if he was being stern.

The witch made a small smile, "That's better," she said after closing her eyes. Tom let go of her wrist, looking at her one last time to make sure her eyes were still closed. Suddenly, she started hearing him pacing in front of her, but he didn't seem to go far, making her frown, "Tom? What are you doing?"
