Tom sat on a chair in the corner of their bedroom looking at the sleeping form of Seraphina under the white covers. The first rays of sunshine were peaking between the brown curtains, illuminating her naked shoulders and her light brown hair. It was a lovely sight, to see her sleeping so peacefully, unaware of her plans for the day.
She slept soundlessly and peacefully in such a way that he almost felt sorry for her part in his plan. Their plan to release Dolohov didn't please him either, but it was their only option. How could he accept seeing Seraphina close to another man?
For the last days, he always left their apartment without sparing her a single glance, knowing the temptation to just join her in bed every morning would be too much. But while he sat in that chair, just by watching her he had no desire to lay beside or even touch her. While she was alone wrapped in those white blankets Tom saw nothing but a picture of perfection and if he was to join her he would ruin everything. For a moment, just a single moment, he pitied her. He pitied her for constantly making wrong choices since she met him.
Honestly, Tom was everything Seraphina should stay away from. But she followed him anywhere as long as he gave her a charming smile and told her she was beautiful. Seraphina had everything to be happy and successful one day, she could marry a rich kind man, start a big family, and have a good job at the ministry or something as great as that. The witch was beautiful, intelligent, cunning, ambitious, and loyal. Why was she with someone like him? Someone who always puts himself first and she knows it. She had even said before she loved him, but how could she?
Tom thought about all that, but there was nothing he could do to help her. No, that wasn't true. He could help her by telling her she should be with someone else and simply let her go. He could do it, but he didn't want it. Tom Riddle was a man full of defects and one of them had to be his selfishness, his need to keep her with him despite what his presence might do to her. The game he was playing was dangerous, but he couldn't find himself quitting. He couldn't let her go, ever.
"What the devil, Tom?" She groaned against her pillow when she saw him sitting on the chair in the corner of their bedroom with his legs crossed, simply looking at her while she was sleeping, "You can be so strange sometimes."
"Good morning, Seraphina."
"Close the curtains."
"It's 6 a.m. Get up," he got up and opened the curtains even more, hearing her groan again and turning to the other side.
"Exactly, let me sleep," she covered her head with the covers, "What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be out saving the world?"
He sat on the bed beside her fully covered body, watching her shape move slightly under the covers, "That's your job today, darling. I'm here to make sure you don't stay in bed all day."
"Tom, it's 6 a.m. If you're bored, I don't care, but I'm not getting up so soon. Now, leave me alone."
He sighed through his nose, wondering when did she get so lazy, "If you don't get up in five seconds I will have to force you."
Seraphina huffed loudly under the covers, intending for him to hear, "I swear to Salazar, I'm struggling here trying not to get up and hex you," Tom was already counting until five, but she got up quickly from the bed, "It's not like I can still go back to sleep after the fright you gave a minute ago, anyways."
When she got her wand from the nightstand Tom really thought she was about to hex him, but she suspiciously took her wand to the bathroom and locked herself in without saying a word. Why did she take her wand to the bathroom?
