46| doubts and fears
Hours passed, days passed, weeks passed and nothing seemed to change. Tom and Seraphina still found themselves every Sunday morning in the prefect's lavatory, simply enjoying their time alone, naked in the big bathtub. Sometimes they didn't need to talk, they limited themselves to kiss each other and make out for as long as they could.
They took their time looking at each other and appreciating their own company. They did all of that in secret, for they knew no one would quite understand what they had. In reality, not even the two of them knew what was happening with the pair? Were they exclusive? Were they playing around? They didn't want to label their relationship, not really wanting to ruin what they have, so they decided on being friends, very good friends. Friends who liked to kiss and have baths together as they talked about their week.
Somehow those Sundays became sacred and none of them dared to miss one of those magical baths, for they knew how much they needed that time together.
Outside the prefects' bathroom, things seemed quite normal, except for the fact Tom insisted on going to the Chamber of Secrets every night. Seraphina didn't know what he was planning, but she fully intended to stay out of it, so she even didn't bother to ask him about his plans related to the chamber and the basilisk. Despite that, they still spent almost every hour and minute of their day together, just like old times.
In fact, as weeks went by them, they seemed to become dangerously close, to a point where they needed to be with each other as much as they could. Surely they still spent a lot of time with their friends, but they had to sit together when they were eating, or lay next to each other almost every night, or stay together in class, or study together.
Since the moment they realized they were soulmates and no one could break their bond, they didn't even bother to hide how much they relied on each other. Obviously, they didn't show much affection in public or anything of that sort, because no one knew they were involved in something much stronger than a friendship. And they intended to keep it a secret, for many reasons, being Leo Greengrass the most obvious.
Seraphina was still very worried about him and his parents since her friend seemed to be extremely sad all the time. There wasn't any news about his parents and as much as Seraphina wanted to cheer him up, she was aware he was really traumatized by the whole situation. So it was unthinkable for her to tell Leo about her and Tom Riddle, even if it wasn't anything official or serious, or at least she thought.
"Did you hear me?" Tom raised his voice and Seraphina turned her head to look at him, "Are you even listening to what I'm saying? I'm talking about something serious and you keep ignoring me," he said disapprovingly.
"Sorry, Tom. What were you saying?" Seraphina asked, blaming herself for having her head in the clouds while Tom spoke.
They were currently walking along the old hallways of Hogwarts. Transfiguration Class had just ended and, as always, Tom was insulting Dumbledore and his methods of teaching, "I really can't understand why would Dippet hire that fool."
Seraphina rolled her eyes, she was not a big fan of Dumbledore herself, but she believed Tom didn't have reasons to actually hate him, "He met you at the orphanage, love. You shouldn't feel that way towards him."
"Stop defending him, Seraphina. I don't care if he was the first wizard I saw, he's still a pathetic excuse of a teacher. Dumbledore keeps treating those stupid Gryffindors better than everyone else and I would like to know why, they're all idiots," he pointed out.
"I agree with you on that," she walked closer to him, lacing their arms together, "But if you think about it, Dippet is the exact same, for he likes us better than our other classmates."
