Tsukishima's POV

"Looks like we're walking from here." Kuroo said with a sigh. Kenma and I looked out of the car.

"Tch. Fine." I grumbled, climbing out of the car. No way we were getting our car through this. Unless we felt like trying our luck driving it off a cliff. Kuroo gave Kenma an extra bag with supplies while he got his own. Well, if nothing else, Kenma was extra carrying capacity for our stuff.

We walked down the slope that our car couldn't make and followed the road. Even if we did manage to get our car down that slope and not get it stuck in the mud, the road was still too blocked to get anywhere. The wheels would need fixing and spikes to even get any traction.

I took the lead, Kuroo too distracted talking with Kenma. It was honestly very annoying. Kuroo would talk to me, but normally it was just him speaking to himself. Kenma didn't sound like a great conversationalist either, but Kuroo didn't seem to care. I rolled my eyes before stopping.

"Hey, why'd we stop-"

"Shut it." I said, listening carefully. I followed the noise, going off trail when I saw someone running from a disgustedly mutated infect. The infected looked like it was blind since it had a giant, something, coming out of it's face. But it was still pursing the stranger.

But it was still pursing the stranger

"Woah, what's that. Never seen that kind before." Kuroo said, spotting the stranger running.

"I don't know."

"What about that guy??"

"..Leave him." I said, turning to head back to the trail. Kuroo slowly turned to follow me, but Kenma stayed in his spot. And of course, Kuroo stayed.

"What is it Kenma??"

"...I don't think we should just leave him."

"Huh?"

"I don't know if you both have been together this whole time. But being alone and chased by those things is terrifying." Kenma mumbled quietly. Kuroo looked at me, I could feel the stupid stare straight through the back of my head.

"...Fine. You stay with Kenma." I said, turning back around and grabbing my gun. I made my way towards the man who was cowering behind a van for cover, the infected swinging it's arms and head wildly to try and find him.

"You're fucking disgusting." I grumbled as I walked closer, the infected's head snapping in my direction. It seemed to stare at me before rushing towards me. I held my gun up and aimed it at its head. I pulled the trigger, two bullets being enough to bring it down.

I looked at the body, kicking it slightly to get a good look at its face. Or what was left of its face. I'm not too sure what use these weird tentacle things on its face were, but at least it was dead. I turned to head back to Kuroo and Kenma when the man called out.

"W-wait...!" He said quickly. I sighed, rolling my eyes and turning to look at him.

"What."

"...Thank you, for saving me. I would've died if you didn't come along.. And-"

"Stop talking."

"Ah, sorry! I just- your arm is hurt..!" He said with worry. I glanced at my arm before shaking my head.

"That's been there for a long time now."

"Well if you don't take care of it, it'll get infected. I have a little bit of stuff left, let me take care of your arm. It's the least I can do after you helped me." He said, reaching into his bag. I glanced over my shoulder, Kuroo and Kenma paying little to no attention now and were talking with each other.

"Alright, fine." I said, the man finding a spot to sit with me. I sighed, sitting and holding my arm out to him. He was careful and unwrapped the cloth around my arm for me. I was a bit surprised to see he had some rubbing alcohol.

"Where'd you get that?"

"Huh? Oh, it's what I could find in my home before everything happened. I was a nurse."

"A nurse?"

"Yeah... heh, is that strange for a guy?"

"No." I said as he grabbed a rag from his bag and poured the tiny bit of sterile alcohol he had left onto it.

"This is gonna sting.. bad." He said, pressing the rag to my arm. I gritted my teeth at the burn, looking away as the man mumbled an apology.

"Ow, don't fucking- ow- apologize. Just hurry."

"Right right, this'll take a bit though to fully clean..."

"Yeah fine."

"So, where are you headed..? Were you just passing?"

"I'm with two others. We're heading north."

"North?"

"Yeah. Someone told us there's a settlement there." I said, the man nodding curiously.

"Oh, maybe I should go there, then."

"...Yeah. Do whatever."

"So, what's your name??"

"Tsukishima."

"Nice to meet you. I'm Yamaguchi." He said with a smile. I glanced at him before nodding and looking away. Yamaguchi gently finished cleaning out the wound before grabbing a roll of gauze. He wrapped my arm carefully but tightly to keep it clean.

"There! That should be good. Sorry if it's sore, it was pretty bad." He said, tucking away his things. I looked at my arm, moving it a bit before nodding.

"It feels better, if anything. Thank you."

"You're welcome! Hey, before you go. Where's the settlement? How far up north??" He asked with a tilted head. I looked down at him, noticing the amount of freckles he has all over his cheeks.

"It's pretty far. You got any weapons?"

"Er, no.. But I can... run." He said with a tiny smile. I nodded before letting out a sigh. He could come with us now that we were on foot. But he couldn't fight. Well, I don't know if Kenma can fight either though. At least this guy had some medical knowledge though. Maybe he could be useful.

"Why don't you just come with us."

"Huh?? Really? I don't wanna slow you guys down."

"I'll let you come along. Only if you make yourself useful though."

"I'll, try?"

"You have medical knowledge, you're useful that way if you choose to be."

"Oh, right!"

"Tch, alright. Come on, the others are this way."
