Yamaguchi's POV

I couldn't stop smiling to myself... I probably shouldn't be smiling while stitching up someone's head.. But I couldn't help it. I was really happy that Tsukki asked me to be his boyfriend.

I felt bad about what happened between him and Kuroo, it must have been sad to him. But I was happy that he was letting it go a bit. The only thing, I hope that I'm not gonna be a rebound.. Even if I am, I guess I can live with it...

I do like him a lot though. When he saved me that first time, the first thing I noticed about him, of course after my heart stopped pounding out of my chest, was he was handsome. I know I know I shouldn't exactly be focusing on that after a near death experience, but, what can I do.

And Tsukki acted all mean and uncaring at first, but there were little things about him. I could tell it was just an act. Maybe it was to seem tough. Or maybe it's how he's learned to survive in this world now. But he slowly was letting those acts down around me.

"There, you should be good to go." I said to the person I was helping. They thanked me and got up and left. While I was cleaning up the area, Hinata walked over to me and gently bumped my arm.

"Hey, whatcha smiling about?"

"What?"

"You've been smiling since you got here."

"You've been smiling since I met you." I said with a small laugh, Hinata giggling with a happy smile and shrug.

"Okay, fair enough. But c'mon there's gotta be something making you smile?"

"Well, sorta. But, it's, private..."

"Oh! Sorry! Well, whatever it is, I'm happy for you." Hinata said with a laugh, bounding off when Suga called his name. I laughed faintly and shook my head, finishing up what I was doing before heading to the next person that needed some assistance.

Towards the end of my 'shift', Suga walked over to me with a smile.

"Hi Yamaguchi, thanks for all the help today."

"Of course."

"Can you go do something else for me? You can go home after you do it."

"Oh, sure. What is it?"

"You know Bokuto and Akaashi?"

"Uh huh?"

"And those kids they came with?"

"Yes?"

"Daichi put the kids to work, but at the kitchens. Since they're young. Well, younger. Could you just go make sure they're doing good? I'm sure they are, but I can't leave here to make sure and I don't want to intrude Bokuto and Akaashi's privacy to check." Suga asked with a small smile.

I laughed faintly and nodded. I think it's nice how concerned Suga was about every single person here. Especially the kids. I know that he and Daichi have a daughter. I've never seen her since Suga doesn't want to bring her here, which makes perfect sense.

But he loves to talk about her whenever we get some free time or we're near each other. Every chance he gets, he tells me about his daughter. He'd tell me about her progression in speech or walking, or how her learning was going.

After Suga thanked me, I headed out to the kitchens. While there, I got the rations for Tsukki and I before heading back where the food was made. I was only allowed back when I explained why I was here.

The kids all seemed to be doing well. They were helping the people who prepared the food with wrapping the portions and handing them to the people. The oldest one wasn't here though?

I returned to Suga and told him what I could find. When I asked him about the oldest girl, he explained that Daichi has been putting her to watches and patrols since she's 18.

Oh, makes sense I suppose. I said a goodnight to Suga and headed home. Tsukki was there, quietly shining and modifying one of his guns with parts he must have found.

"Hi Tsukki." I said happily, setting the bag with our food in it down. He looked over, smiling faintly when I gave him a little kiss. We ate together in silence, but I didn't mind. I was curious what Tsukki was doing though.

"What are you doing??"

"Trying something that Asahi told me about."

"Oh??"

"Mhm. He says he doesn't like using the guns, but he knows a lot about them. So I thought I would try to give his advice a go."

"Oh that's good!" I said, Tsukki nodding before sighing.

"Is something wrong??"

"Asahi told me that he and Nishinoya spotted something on their patrol earlier."

"What was it..?"

"They spotted a horde."

"...Like... a really big one?"

"They said it looked like a lot."  He said, making me anxious. I set my food down before slowly nodding. Tsukki glanced at me before setting his food down as well and getting up. He walked over and leaned down before gently wrapping his arms around me.

"Hey, you'll be okay.. This isn't the first horde that this settlement has taken care of."

"Really?"

"Yeah. I talked to Asahi about it. And then Daichi. They have a way to handle it."

"Are they going to take care of it tomorrow...?"

"No, tonight."

"Who's going..?"

"A lot of us..."

"...Are you going..?"

"..Yeah." Tsukki said, making me even more anxious now. What if something happened to him? I know that he'll be with others and they've probably handled stuff like this before, but, still..!

Tsukki tilted his head, giving my cheek a gentle kiss. I got up and turned to hug him. He held me quietly before looking outside.

"I need to go to meet them soon, Yama."

"...Don't die on me okay?" I mumbled as I buried my face into his chest. He nodded and patted my back.

"I won't. But if I come back with a cut, you'll take care of it for me, right?" He asked, trying to lighten the mood. I laughed slightly and nodded.

"Yeah, I will."

"Good. If things go well, Daichi said we all should be back by sunrise."

"Sunrise? So long though..."

"I know. But we have to be careful about it too."

"I know.. Be safe, all of you be safe."
