Chapter 24

Next Day: Yamaguchi's POV

"Tsukki, how's your arm?" I asked while tracing the bandages we put around his arm to hide the bite.

"It's alright. It's almost scarred over." He said as I nodded. I doubled checked that it was tightly wrapped and hiding any sign of an infection.

"That's good... Tsukki?"

"Yeah?"

"I really wanna kiss you.."

"I want to kiss you too. But I don't know if this thing is infectious that way, and, I don't want you to get infected."

"...Do you think anyone else here would know?"

"Why would anyone here know?"

"Well, you have to admit, just from looking around, Oikawa's camp seems more advanced than Daichi's. It's smaller so they don't need to worry about such a large group of people and they have more technology. So maybe they they have the technology to tell..??" I asked more than said.

Tsukki tilted his head in thought before shrugging and saying it would be worth an ask. I smiled happily and got up while Tsukki got changed to work. Instead of patrols, Oikawa said that he and I would be in charge of the animals. Mostly just cleaning them. Probably dirty work no one else likes.

"You get going to work, I'm gonna go see what others here know." I said, Tsukki nodding as I ran off. I'm not too sure who anyone here was, but maybe there were tech labs?? Or some types of labs where they'd know?

I asked someone if they had anything like that, and thankfully they do. I was directed to where it was. I thanked the person and ran off. This settlement was a lot smaller than Daichi's, but there was also a lot less people. But it still seemed well run.

Once I reached the tech and medical labs, I wandered through the entrance to find someone. But before I could do anything, I was yelled at to stop. I stayed in my spot before getting misted with something. Alright, usually that method is only used when someone has a suit on..!

"Okay come in." I was told. I coughed and wiped my face before stepping in. A man wearing a mask walking over.

"What do you want."

"Oh, um.. I was wondering if you knew a lot about the virus.. how it spreads and stuff?"

"I know a decent amount. Why?"

"Well, I mean we live with it, so, I guess knowing as much as I can would be good?"

"Mm. Alright. Come with me." He said, turning around and walking off. I followed after him quickly as he led me into a room and laid out a notebook. I went to grab it but he told me to only look. I slowly nodded and leaned over to read the pages.

"So, the infection is only spread through bites and scratches??"

"I believe so."

"Not through other means??"

"What other means?"

"Like a normal virus, you could get sick just from like kissing someone. Does this one work the same way?"

"Well. I hope you don't plan on kissing any zombies. But no. It doesn't seem to be held in the body fluids we've examined and sampled. It's like a venom from a snake that is only produced and transmitted through the teeth or claws like a cat." 

I laughed awkwardly but nodded, thanking him before heading off to get to work. I found Tsukki already working on cleaning out a stall. This camp had some horses and dogs that they were training and breeding to use for patrols or for defense.

Daichi had a few horses but not too many, and a lot of them seemed a bit ill. Though I knew they were being taken care of the best they could. 

"Yama. There you are. Did you-" Tsukki asked, standing up straight as I rushed over. Before he could finish his sentence, I wrapped my arms around his neck and stood on my tip toes to kiss him. He looked at me wide eyes before I pulled away.

"I do hope you're going to tell me that this doesn't spread through kissing." Tsukki said quietly. I smiled and nodded in confirmation before kissing him again. Even if their data and information is faulty, I don't care. 

"Hey you two, keep that for after the work is done and the day is over." Someone said to us as they passed. I laughed and blushed, saying an apology before getting to work helping Tsukki and the others take care of the animals and their pens. 

After the day was over, Tsukki and I returned to the room we were assigned to share. I could hear the noise of the gates being opened and people from patrols or clearing groups returning. I was glad they were back safely it seems. 

Tsukki sighed and climbed into the bed. I closed our curtain before climbing in with him. He smiled faintly at me when I scooted until I was basically on top of him. Without a care, I leaned down and pressed my lips against his again.

"I sure hope that the people here know what they're talking about with their research." Tsukki mumbled against my lips. I giggled slightly and shrugged as I looked at him.

"I hope so too, but even if they're wrong, this is worth it." I said, Tsukki looking a bit concerned but he wasn't complaining about the kisses. Hm... Just in case the virus could spread like a normal illness, and I do get ill, I want to savor every moment I would have left with Tsukki.

"Tsukki...?"

"Yes?"

"..."

"Is something wrong?"

"No, I just.. I want to ask you to do something, but I don't know how you'll react."

"What is it Yama?"

"Do you promise you won't find me disgusting for asking..?"

"Of course I wouldn't find you disgusting, what is it?"

"I.. I uh, want to go all the way with you..." I mumbled with a heavy blush. Tsukki looked a little bit surprised at my request.

"What?"

"Well.. I was thinking.... if the information this camp has is wrong, then.. I want to spend any remaining time with you." 

"Ah.. I see."

"Are you grossed out?"

"Not at all. I want to spend as much time with you as I can. And as intimately as you'd like."

"Really?"

"Really."
