Yamaguchi's POV
Um. This seems a bit dangerous."Tsukki?"
"What."
"Are you sure that's safe...?" I asked nervously. He just shrugged and tapped the plank underneath his feet. If that board fell, he'd fall into that river. I watched anxiously but he made it over the large gap and to the other side of the river. Kuroo and Kenma made it over as well, but I have a fear of heights... and we were high up and the river looked far..
"Come on Yamaguchi." Kuroo said, waving his arm. I took in a breath, shakily stepping out onto the board. I knew that the board should be plenty stable. It had supported Kuroo and Tsukki's weight plus their weapons, but I felt like I was going to fall still.
"Hey, Yama. Look at me." Tsukki called out. I slowly looked up, trying to not wobble and fall off the board.
"Just keep your eyes forward on me, and walk." He said, standing by the edge of the board. I looked at Tsukki and walked forward, trying to ignore the rushing water below me. Just as I got close, I yelped when my foot seemed to slip. Tsukki grabbed me and yanked me to the other side, both of us falling to the ground.
"I got you." He said as I clung on to him. The board ended up falling and making a splash into the water. I looked back, but soon Tsukki used a free Hand to turn my head to face him.
"You alright?" He asked, getting up with me. I nodded, but when I tried to stand, I nearly fell over again.
"Ow..!"
"What?"
"I think my ankle got twisted when you pulled me over here.." I mumbled quietly, trying to press as much of my weight as I could on it, but it hurt too bad. Tsukki sighed while I held onto his arm for support.
"So you can't walk?"
"...I'm sorry.. You guys can keep going. I can- woah!" I yelped when Tsukki grabbed my wrists and turned around. He put my arms around his neck from behind before standing up. I held on tight to not fall backwards as he hooked his arms underneath the bottom of my thighs.
"C'mon. Let's keep going. We should almost be there." Tsukki said as he just carried me piggyback style. I blushed but hung onto him to try and hold my weight up in case I'd get heavy. A small smile made its way onto my face. It was really nice of Tsukki to save me twice now. And now he was carrying me instead of leaving me behind.
Tsukishima's POV
I glanced over my shoulder when I felt more of Yamaguchi's weight suddenly leaned more against my back. I sighed softly when I saw he had fallen asleep. His chin was resting on my shoulder and his face was nuzzling into my neck.
He really wasn't heavy, but I've been carrying him for a few hours now. Kuroo and Kenma have had to take care of anything we've come across, and luckily it hasn't been a lot. The closer we got to where the settlement is, the less and less infected there are.
Which is a good sign. Maybe this settlement really is keeping things under control around here. Kuroo had the map and Kenma was helping navigate us.
"Hey guys, how much further do you think..."
"Huh? At least one more day."
"Can we find a place to rest..." I asked, Kuroo chuckling.
"Losing your stamina?"
"Fuck off, you carry Kenma for a good half a day and not be tired." I said with a glare, Kuroo shrugging with a nod.
"Yeah yeah alright fair enough. Next place we see we'll take a look." Kuroo said, Kenma nodding silently in agreement. When we came across an old motel, Kuroo and Kenma took a look and cleared the place. They didn't return for a while, which was honestly making me anxious. But finally Kenma wandered over.
"Hey, is it clear?"
"Mhm." Kenma mumbled, leading me to one of the rooms.
"Hey Kenma?"
"Mhm?"
"So, I assume you and Kuroo are getting along very well, right?"
"Mhm."
"...Is that all you say..?"
"No."
"...Never mind. Thank you. Goodnight."
"Goodnight." Kenma said, walking into a room with Kuroo. I rolled my eyes and walked into the room in front of me. Well, Kenma wasn't exactly very talkative now was he. I walked over to the bed, placing a knee on it to stabilize myself and lay Yamaguchi down.
I decided to stay with him tonight. Just in case something happened and he couldn't run because of his ankle.
Yamaguchi held onto me tighter when I tried to let go of him. There was a second bed in here and I had planned on sleeping in that one. So I grabbed his hands and carefully pried them off of me and set them at his sides. He turned in his sleep a bit when I put the blanket over him.
I looked away from Yamaguchi and climbed into the second bed. It wasn't very comfortable but I was used to that. I glanced at the other bed before shaking my head and turning my back to him. What would that settlement be like? I wasn't lying when I said I hoped it wouldn't be like those sectors.
Likely, I'd be put to work in some way. But I didn't mind. I could handle the work, anything to keep things around here safer and to get out of living in these wastelands. Besides, maybe the people knew better tricks to survival out here. And admittedly, it would be nice to see some sort of "civilization" again.
It would surely not be like it was before, but it'd be people. More people than just Kuroo. I doubt I'd make any friends, let alone meet lovers. But I didn't care. I meant what I said to myself. No one out here would care for me... So I won't let myself care about anyone else... I don't want to give myself to anyone again.
