Yamaguchi's POV
Tsukki already left to go meet with his group he was gonna patrol with. So I made sure he was good before I went to the building Daichi told me about. When I got there, I was greeted by another man who smiled happily at me.
"Hi! You must be Yamaguchi! I'm Hinata! Come in I'll show you around." He said, grabbing my hand and dragging me inside. I gasped as I was dragged inside, but soon a bit saddened to see so many people here that looked sick.
"Wow, is it always so full of people...?"
"Yeah, unfortunately." Hinata said with a sigh. He showed me the different rooms for different things along with where what equipment they had was. It all seemed like a lot to take in, but it seems like they kept all of this as close to how a normal medical place would run, so I was able to keep it in mind pretty easy.
"Alright that pretty much wraps up your tour. Could you go help someone named Suga? He's been swamped with helping people who've returned with scrapes, scratches, stab wounds, even gun wounds."
"Yeah.. uh, who's Suga?"
"You'll know him when you see him. He's got all silver hair."
"Is he old?"
"Not really. He's like. 30 something." Hinata said with a shrug. I just slowly nodded and headed to where the equivalent of a trauma bay was. I found who I was looking for and slowly walked over.
"Hi. Are you Suga??"
"Hm?? Oh, yes I am. You must be Yamaguchi."
"Yeah, that's me."
"Wonderful! Hinata showed you around?"
"Yes sir."
"No need for that, just call me Suga. I trust my husband told you you'd be helping here as your work?"
"Er, someone named Daichi told me."
"That's my husband." Suga said with a happy smile. I nodded with a small laugh and shy smile.
"Oh, sorry..! Anyway, Hinata told me to come help you."
"Oh wonderful. Do you know how to do stitches?"
"Yes."
"Good, see that guy over there? Please tend to him." Suga said and rushed off. I nodded, finding a sterile needle and some thread before going over to the man. Another taller man was sitting with him.
"Hello." I said with a smile, the smaller man looking over. He was holding his arm before smiling.
"Hi. You look new?"
"Oh, yeah. I'm Yamaguchi. Don't worry, I do have medical knowledge though."
"Oh good. You a doctor before this all happened or something?"
"I was a nurse."
"Nice. Well, go ahead. I'm Noya by the way." Noya said with a smile. I nodded politely and cleaned off his arm, smiling apologetically when he winced.
"Sorry."
"No it's alright. I know it's gonna hurt. This was my fault, I was being reckless out there." Noya said with a laugh. The other man sighing gently and speaking softly.
"I told you to be careful in that tree.."
"Hey I survived right? This is Asahi, by the way." Noya said, gesturing to Asahi with his other arm. I smiled at Asahi and nodded, going back to cleaning Noya's arm. The two talked, likely to get Noya's mind off the sting of stitches. Once I was done, I tied the threads and Noya thanked me and went on his way with Asahi.
I spent most of the day doing the same basic things. Stitches, cleaning bad looking wounds, tending to ill scouters, and other things. It was nice to get to do this again. That was why I became a nurse. I always wanted to help people, and they needed it now more than ever. I wonder how Tsukki is doing on his patrol.
Tsukishima's POV
This patrol wasn't so bad. I guess. It was a bit boring, but we were still only making our way to one of the watch points. The others with me thankfully weren't super talkative. Once we reached the first lookout point, I helped the others clear out a few stray infected that have wandered in."So, what do we do exactly?" I asked, one of the men, who told me his name was Ennoshita, smiling.
"Well, we go to the different lookout points. We make sure that they're clear. And since all of our lookout points are high up, we're able to look around to make sure there aren't any hordes or mutated around."
"And what if there are?"
"Then we have to take care of it immediately. And we also gather information. If we come across new infected or new mutations, we write them down here. Of course from a safe enough distance." Ennoshita said, grabbing a book with a leather case from his bag. He handed it to me and looked out the high windows of this old building with the others while I opened the book.
I never knew there were so many types of infected... I knew there were mutated ones, but I never knew there were so many. I read through the notes and looked at the sketches carefully. There were early stage infected which I have seen before. They just look human, but also as if they had rabies. Late stage which are normal infected once they've been covered in dead skin and weird boil-like growths.
There were the type I saw when I first saw Yamaguchi. None of these really bothered me too much, I've dealt with them. The one that did actually worry me a bit was one that everyone said was like 7 feet tall and had a massive body composed of other bodies. Bodies from both humans and other random creatures it would come across and create growths around to attach them. Even living humans..
I quickly gave Ennoshita the book back and looked out the windows with them. We saw nothing so we all turned to head to the next lookout point.
"How do you guys deal with hordes?" I asked, Ennoshita tucking the book away carefully.
"Various ways. It's important they don't migrate or nest anywhere near us. We have important jobs as lookouts. We're protecting a lot of families." Ennoshita said with a smile. I nodded and looked forward. What Ennoshita had just said reminded me of something. I wonder how Bokuto and Akaashi were doing?
