Effie sat at the breakfast table with Theo in a slight awkward silence, she didn't really know this boy, and the only thing they actually had in common was the fact that they'd both been hurt by the same people.
The conversation was nothing short of stiff, but the chat soon came to an all together stop when Effie's so called best friend walked through the doors.
Pansys eyes drew towards Effie and Theo, looking somewhat confused at the pair sitting next to each other. Effie decided that their conversation would best be handled in private so she decided to leave Theo to do this alone.
"I'll leave you to it shall I." She laid a gentle hand on Theo's shoulder before getting up and walking directly past Pansy without saying a word.
She headed up to the astronomy tower to get ten minutes peace before class, it was a beautiful morning, the sun was splitting in the sky and the breeze was cool and smelled of the Autum air.
Her head kept going back to Malfoy, and how he tried to blatantly lie right to her face. She wondered if she was wrong for telling Theo, because deep deep down she knew that the true reason she done it was because she was hurt, it was nothing about not wanting to see him hurt, it was about hurting Pansy, because that's what she'd done to her.
Why couldn't she and Malfoy just be normal, why did it always have to be this stupid game, it was the most frustrating thing in the world, and no matter how hard it was to digest it seemed that this game was never going to end.
She made sure she was late to every class that day, to ensure that Pansy and Malfoy were already seated so she could sit away from them, thankfully there was no potions class today so she didn't have to deal with avoiding Pansy, Malfoy and Snape in the one lesson.
She sat in silence every lesson, Pansy tried a few times to get her attention but she brushed it off and of course she could feel Malfoy's eyes burning through the back of her skull the entire duration of the day.
Finally it got to the end of the day, but it was the point of the day that Effie was dreading the most, because now she had to go back to her dorm where she just knew that Pansy would be there, and the fact that she'd been trying to talk to her all day she knew that Pansy wouldn't quit until she spoke to her.
Effie entered the room, and just as she'd thought Pansy was perched up on her bed, staring at the floor, Effie acted as if she didn't see her, throwing her bag on her bed and heading straight towards the bathroom.
"Eff?" Pansys voice stuttered from behind her.
She was still acting as if she didn't know she was there, whistling away to herself as if Pansy was nothing.
                              "Effie, please?" She repeated.
No answer again, the whistling only got louder, and you could tell in the tone of Pansys voice she was starting to get frustrated.
"Effie will you just speak to me already?" She bellowed, Effie had no choice now but to turn and face her.
"What is it?" Effie replied with her eyes rolling, she couldn't wait to hear what Pansy had to say for herself.
"Look, I'm sorry okay— I'm sorry I didn't tell you about Malfoy. I just—I felt disgusting." Pansy replied with her eyes still stuck on the floor.
"Well you are disgusting. The both of you are. I can't believe you Pansy, I can't believe you'd do this to m— to Theo." She stuttered, hoping she'd saved herself there.
"It was a moment of madness, it wasn't planned at all, it just happened." Pansy argued.
"What so you just happened to be in Malfoy's dorm, in his bed." Effie scoffed. "Let me guess you just so happened to fall and land on his dick? That doesn't just happen by accident Pansy." She shouted.
