When the morning came, the sun shone in the window instantly waking Effie up from her three hour sleep, she sat staring at the ceiling most of the night, going over the plan a million times in her head making sure everything would be perfect.
She got up and showered before Draco had even opened his eyes, it was only when she purposely turned on the hair dryer to wake him that he shot up from the pillow in fright.
"Sorry— were you sleeping?" She giggled, earning a tired groan from him as he fall back down onto the pillow.
Effie got dressed as Draco slowly came to life and made his way to the shower, she sat on the bed admiring the four walls of the room that she sort of called home for a while, she hadn't lived at Snape's for a very long time. She felt most comfortable here, with Draco by her side.
There was a connection between the pair of them that was, in a way— indescribable. They fit like two jigsaw pieces, areas where he lacked she excelled and vice versa, ones strength played to the others weakness. They were made for each other, meant to be, and there was no doubt that they would protect each other through the darkest of days.
Effie dozed off for about half an hour while waiting on Draco to get ready. When she opened her eyes he was sitting next to her on the bed, stroking her long copper hair, watching her with lust in his eyes.
"You ready sleepy head? We've got a big day today." He smiled.
"More ready than I'll ever be." She quickly got up and fixed herself before grabbing her trunk and following Draco downstairs.
There stood Narcissa in the kitchen, there was breakfast laid out on the island and tea on the table.
Effie hadn't yet told Draco that his mother already knew they were planning to leave the wizarding world, she thought she would leave that up to her if she even wanted to tell him, Effie wouldn't have known how to tell him about the conversation she'd had with his mother last night.
The mark on Narcissa's face was no longer present as she'd used make up to cover it up, Effie being a girl could still see small blotches of purple through the pale colour of her foundation, but being a typical boy, Draco was none the wiser.
They sat eating breakfast as if everything were normal, Draco still thinking they were having to hide everything from his mother, Narcissa shooting Effie subtle smirks across the kitchen. Effie could tell the woman was glad that her son was getting away for this god forsaken world.
"Shall we get going for the train?" Draco asked as he finished his breakfast.
"Yeah we've got about an hour." Effie replied before going to grab her trunk.
Before they could walk out the front door, Narcissa grabbed Draco in a tight hug, judging by the look on his face, tighter than ever before.
Effie watched as the boy melted into his mother's arms, it was clearly the first time he had felt a connection with his mother in a long time, and it was the day he was leaving and didn't know when he would return.
"You two take care of each other, I love you Draco." His mother waved them off, desperately trying to choke back tears but it was clear that she was going to miss her son.
They walked away from the manor, Draco was looking very confused. Narcissa didn't necessarily tell him she knew but she had clearly never reacted like that when Draco was just returning to school.
"Eff. Do you know something I don't?" He raised an eyebrow, taking a hold of her hand.
"Like what?" She asked obliviously.
