Monday came quick, Effie was more than eager to start this potions project, there was this permanent knot in her stomach as she walked around the school lost in her thoughts about the rat that she was being forced to be.

She'd been that lost in all this palaver with Harry that she hadn't really been spending time with her friends, not really taking an interest in them, which they were starting to notice and it seemed to worry them.

"Eff what's been up with you recently? You hardly even talk to us anymore? Have we done something?" Pansy questioned in a concerned tone as Effie sat down at the table opposite her next to Daphne.

"I'm fine— I've just had a lot on my mind. Snape's been putting a lot of pressure on me with schoolwork this year, and not to mention I have Harry fucking Potter as a potions partner." She rolled her eyes, trying to make up a lie believable enough for her friends not to think they have done anything wrong.

"You know if you ever need to talk to us we're here for you, right?" Daphne lay her head on Effie's shoulder, looking up at her with puppy dog eyes.

"I know you are." Effie stroked her hair. "I promise I'm fine, and I swear I'll be around a lot more, I've just had things to deal with. I'm sorry I've been neglecting you guys"

"What do you say this weekend we all have a little party in the common room? We've not had one in ages." Pansy suggested, her eyes twinkling at the idea.

Effie looked over at Draco who was in deep conversation with Blaise, Crabbe and Goyle about the quidditch World Cup.

A party would be the perfect opportunity to spend some time with Draco and their friends as they hadn't done that since her birthday.

"Count me in." Effie sighed playfully. "I need a drink, the amount of studying I've been doing is unacceptable."

"I'll let everyone know. It's going to be so good, you want to do it Saturday? We can go to Hogsmead on Friday and buy outfits, we all have no classes after lunch." Pansy's tone for more and more animated by the second.

"Sounds good to me." Daphne clapped her hands in excitement.

"Me too— I've got to go. Got potions first and can't be late for Snape. You know what he's like." Effie rolled her eyes and laughed.

As she got up, she caught sight of Draco, still sitting there lost in deep conversation with his friends, she hated not being able to be affectionate with him, she just wished she could run up to him wrap her arms around him and kiss him in front of the whole school until her heart exploded.

She looked over to the gryffindor table, Harry and his friends must have already been at potions. As she walked past Draco she quickly looked around to make sure no one was watching, leaned down and subtly kissed his cheek, not caring if their friends saw as they already knew about them.

"See you in potions." She whispered.

He watched her walk away with a small smile on his face as she looked back and shot him a cheeky wink.

The truth was, he felt the exact same way she did. As much as he tried to make it look as if it wasn't bothering him, not being able to show her off to the world was the equivalent of a knife through the heart.

The girl had no idea how much that tiny kiss meant to him.

She quickly walked to class, as predicted Harry and his friends were already in class, Hermione was sitting on Effie's seat next to Harry.

Effie strolled over towards her shoulders straight, chin up with a confident look on her face.

"Your in my seat Granger." She hissed, knowing the girl wasn't fond of her.
