As soon as the fresh air outside Malfoy Manor hit her, Effie collapsed to the ground, hyperventilating and gagging, desperately trying not to vomit all over the place.
She couldn't quite comprehend what had just happened, for years and years she's been forced to come to terms with the fact that she hasn't had a mother.
The girl grew up without a female figure in her life, had to live with an abusive murderer for a father, and then she went to Hogwarts and found out that everything that she'd ever known had been a lie, and now the same thing was happening again.
If this woman was her mother, then why? Why now?
After all this time did she think she could just waltz back in after she broke this girls heart.
Effie sat on the stoney ground outside the manor, crying her eyes out uncontrollably before she felt two large hands wrap around her waist and pull her up into an embrace, she knew the smell anywhere. It was Draco, of course he had ran to her rescue.
She subconsciously wrapped her arms around the boy, sobbing into his suit jacket, all he could do was hold her.
"Did— did you know?" Effie pulled away to look up at him, she didn't know if she would be able to forgive him if he had lied to her about this too.
"Elizabeth. I swear to you. I had no idea. I promise." He protested, the fact that he used her real name was all it took for her to know that he wasn't lying to her.
He pulled the girl back in towards him, not letting her go for dear life, she needed him now more than ever. The poor girl couldn't catch a break.
"I don't know what to do." She sobbed into his chest. "Who even is that woman, she can't be my mother. My mothers dead!"
"She's been my mothers best friend since I was about five, but she never mentioned having a daught—"
"Wait. You know her?" Effie lowered her eyebrows with a confused look on her face.
"I've known her all my life. Her names Rose." He nodded.
That's when her mind started going into over time, Rose? Rosalie. Could it actually be? Could this actually be her mother? At this moment, she didn't know weather to be happy that her mother might actually not be dead, or sad that she'd been lied to once again by yet another person who was supposed to care about her.
"Eff?" Her thoughts were interrupted by Draco letting go of her and taking a hold of her hand. "They want you back inside."
She could tell he was worried about her by the look he was giving her, he knew fine well the amount of hurt he had already inflicted on the poor girl, so it was only a matter of time, before she cracked.
"Stay with me please?" She asked him while tightening her grasp around his long pale fingers.
"Forever." He pulled her in and kissed her forehead reassuringly, causing butterflies to flutter through her stomach.
They walked back in, Effie feeling a bit more confident now she had Malfoy on her arm, he didn't seem to care what his mother or father thought, although his mother didn't look unhappy at all, it was his evil looking father who couldn't stop himself from shooting glares at the young girl.
With this sudden confidence, Effie strutted right up to the red headed lady who claimed to be her mother and sat down next to her, staring her dead in the eyes, taking in every feature on her face trying to compare them to her own.
"If your my mother. Then prove it." She raised an eyebrow, expecting the woman to fault and stutter.
But to Effie's surprise the woman turned round in her chair and faced Effie directly, completely unfazed, letting out a small chuckle in the process.
