chapter 26

After hitching a train to Berlin, Luna and Peter desperately attempted to find a way to Fury. Somehow, the man already knew they were there, and came just in time to pick them up.

"Get in." He ordered as he rolled down his window. Peter got in the front seat, while Luna sat in the back. They quickly removed their masks. "Mr. Fury!" Peter began in a hurry.

"You two got a lot of explaining to do." Fury said angrily. 

"No, no, no. Listen—" Peter continued.

 "Wait until we're secure." Fury said.

"Okay." Peter took a deep breath, then leaned into his seat. Fury cleared his throat. The seatbelt alarm beeped repeatedly.

 "Peter, your seatbelt." Luna sighed.

"What?" Peter furrowed his eyebrows. "Oh, right." He nodded once he realized. He pulled on the seatbelt too fast. The belt got stuck while Peter continued to pull it, until he accidentally broke it off.

He turned to Fury fearfully. "Go to the back." Fury stopped the car.

 "You're seriously doing this right now?" Peter groaned. 

"Go to the backseat, Parker." The man repeated angrily.

Peter sighed, then pushed himself through the middle into the backseat to sit beside Luna. Once he was buckled, they continued their drive to the headquarters.

"That was embarrassing." Peter whispered in Luna's direction.

 "It's just Fury." Luna replied.

 "Exactly." Peter concluded. Luna shook her head slowly.

By the time they entered HQ and followed Fury, Peter and Luna were already jittery, eager to tell the man what they had found out. Fury lead them into another large room, where Maria Hill stood at the end of the conference table.

"So, is there anything you want to tell us about your girlfriend?" Fury asked upon joining Maria at the end of the table. Peter and Luna looked to each other in confusion. 

"He's talking about EDITH." Informed Maria. 

"Look, I know I made a mistake, and I'm sorry, but he is not who you think he is." Peter took no pause to speak up. "Beck is a liar. Mysterio, the elementals, it's all flake."

"He has some sort of illusion tech and that's how he tricked you guys." Added Luna.

 "And he tricked me into giving him EDITH." Peter explained.

Luna set down the projector, and slid it down the table. "It's a projector. Peter pulled it off the fire monster in Prague." Luna stated.

"So, all that death and destruction we witnessed was created by this?" Fury questioned skeptically. 

"No, not just this. We think he's using drones." Peter informed.

"Well, if this is true, then Beck's very dangerous, and we need to be smart." Said Fury as he looked to Maria. She began to pace the room. Who else did you tell about this?" Fury asked.

Suddenly, Peter grabbed Luna's hand. Luna furrowed her eyebrows, then slowly turned her head In his direction. 

"What's wrong?" Maria inquired.

"He's here." Peter tightened his grip on Luna's hand.

 "What?" Fury turned to Maria in shock as she began to disappear. "Hill?"

The entire headquarters became a parking-lot-like structure. With a sudden bang, Fury was shot to the wall.

Peter and Luna turned around, approached by a drone, which blew them both back, and down to the floor.
