The week passed slowly when Peter and Luna weren't on an adventure. Although, on the bright side, Luna spent much more time with Ned and Peter. It was calm, and it was also refreshing.

The day before homecoming, Luna sat tiredly in her fifth period. With the need for a break, she asked for a hall pass, and roamed the halls for a little bit. As she did, she heard Peter speaking to Liz at the end of the hallway. She froze in place.

"I just wanted to apologize about the whole decathlon thing." Said Peter nervously.

"It's fine." Responded Liz. "Last week, decathlon was the most important thing, but then I almost died."

"No, I just— I'm— I just mean that... it was not cool, especially... b— because... I like you." Peter admitted.

Luna frowned at this. Not too long ago, Luna would have been cheering Peter on for finally telling Liz, but now, she found herself with confusing feelings. She didn't know why this made her so upset, but she couldn't help it.

"I know." Liz stated.

"You do?" Peter questioned.

"You're terrible at keeping secrets." Liz added.

"Yeah, you'd be surprised." Peter chuckled. "I got to get to class, but, um—"Peter paused. "I'd say we should hang out, but I'm gonna be in detention for... ever, but, um— I guess you already have a date to homecoming." Peter sighed.

"Actually, I was so busy planning it. I never really got around to that part, so—" Liz explained.

"Uh, do you want to...go with me?" Asked Peter hopefully.

Luna's heart sank.

"Yeah, sure." Liz stifled a laugh.

"Really? I mean, uh, great. Cool." Peter replied.

With that, Luna went back to class.

After school, Luna and Peter had earlier agreed to walk to Delmar's together as usual. Except, this time, it was further than usual since Delmar's had to temporarily move to a new location until all the damage from the bank incident was fixed.

"And she said yes! That's insane! Luna, I never believed you when you told me I had a chance with her, but what do you know? You're right again! I really have to start trusting you more. You always end up being right all the time and—" Peter paused as he noticed Luna didn't really seem to be listening.

"Hey." Peter began. "Earth to Luna? Well, I mean.. uh, moon to Luna?" Peter waved his hand in front of her face. Luna glanced towards him. "Sorry." She mumbled.

"I just said you were right. Usually you'd have more of a reaction." Peter commented. Luna shrugged.

"Come on. Not even an 'I told you so?'." Peter encouraged.

"Sorry, Peter. I'm just not in the mood today." She sighed.

"Yeah, I get it." Peter frowned. "Wanna talk about it?" He asked.

"Not really. But, thanks." Luna responded.

"Uh, okay, well... what if.." Peter stepped in front of her, preventing her from walking. "I buy you a pack of gummy bears from Delmar's?" Peter smiled.

Luna couldn't help but smile, too. "Two or no deal." She joked.

"Fine, two." Peter chuckled. "Okay." Peter held up his hand. Luna shook it firmly. "Pleasure doing business with you, Penis Parker."

"And you, Luna." Peter tipped an imaginary hat to her. The two of them continued their way to Delmar's. Luna could not deny that she was still disappointed. She knew that it wasn't Peter's fault. He couldn't have known. They've always been friends, why would they ever be more?

Peter cared a lot about Luna. She knew he did. As long as Peter was still in her life, best friend or anything else, she knew she would be happy.

When they arrived at Delmar's they were greeted happily. "Peter! Luna! It's been a while." Mr. Delmar smiled.

"Hey, Mr. Delmar." Luna grinned. Peter grabbed two packs of gummy bears and set them on the counter.

"You two dating yet?" Mr. Delmar raised his eyebrows.

"You already know the answer." Luna shook her head.

"Can't blame me for checking in." The man joked.

"Well, I actually got myself a date for homecoming." Peter smiled.

"Not Luna, I presume?" The man raised his eyebrows.

"Nah. I'm sure Luna's already got a date, though. Right, Luna?" Peter smiled to Luna.

"Uh, Yeah. Totally." She nodded.

"Oh, cool. Yeah. I didn't— I didn't know. You didn't tell me." There seemed to be a flash of sadness in Peter's eyes for just a moment.

"Yeah, sorry. I..I forgot." Luna pursed her lips.

While Peter and Mr. Delmar spoke, Luna walked off to the side, where Murph the cat lay on the floor.

"Hey, Murph." Luna smiled as she pet the cat. "You can keep a secret, can't you? I mean.. who are you gonna tell? I don't think cats can talk." Luna chuckled.

She spoke quietly. "You probably don't even understand what I'm saying now." She realized. "If you do though, sorry for underestimating your intelligence."

"God, this is so stupid I'm talking to a cat." Luna muttered to herself. "Anyway, Murph. I haven't been feeling great this past week. I don't have my suit anymore, and... I think I have a crush on Peter." She admitted.

Murph yawned and stretched. "I know, I know. You're probably not surprised. I didn't see it coming, though." Luna sighed.

"I just... I don't know what to do because he likes Liz." Luna turned to look back at Peter, who was speaking to Mr. Delmar. For a moment, Peter glanced at her with an unknowing smile, then turned back to the front.

Luna pursed her lips and looked to Murph. "And Liz is perfect. She's smart, she's pretty..." Luna trailed off.

Luna pet Murph again. "Whatever. At least we're friends, right? Just— just friends. We still.. we still talk and.. we joke around and hang out and.. we do everything couples do except— I mean, well, except kissing, you know?" Luna rambled on. "And.. and hold hands and.. you know, all— yeah." Luna trailed off.

"I mean, do I— do I really wanna kiss Peter?" Luna stared at her friend, who was now handing Mr. Delmar a five dollar bill.

"No.."

"Maybe—"

"Yes."
