"How you doing buddy?" Gulf asked coming seeing Mew awake with a cast on his ankle.

"Surprised I'm still alive." Mew replied and Gulf felt that statement. His hand grazed Mew's shoulder as he said, "I'm glad you are."

"You saved me." Mew reached out and held Gulf's hand before he could withdraw, "and I really appreciate it. Thank you Gulf."

"It's nothing." Gulf replied taking his hand away awkwardly. "So how are you holding up?"

"I'm healing. That's what matters to me." the calmness in his voice was worrying.

"I know I'm being nosy and crossing the line but I really want to know who is doing this to you."

"It's over now. It won't happen again." Was Mew's response.

"How do you know that? You have a broken ankle now what are they going to break next? And why did you allow it to happen in the first place?"

"I was helpless when it started."

"Are you still helpless? Aren't you even going to try to make it stop? You'll end up dying Mew."

"It should stop now. It will stop,"

Gulf was surprised by Mew's responses. He felt like he didn't care he got bullied. He normalized his situation so much that when everyone was panicking he just seemed calm. He thought whoever was abusing him had so much power over his life. It was family members or someone who knew so much about him. He looked at Mew who was so calm on the bed, his face now looking a bit better than when he saw him on the rooftop.

He heard the door open and in came a couple. Mew didn't seem curious about who entered the room.

"How do you do," Gulf greeted politely.

"How do you do," the man replied with smile on his face.

"Are you the one who came here with our son?"  Gulf realized they were Mew's parents. They looked so fancy, nothing like Mew.

Gulf said a shy "yes," wondering what he should do next.

"Words alone can't express how thankful we are of you. We would like to invite you to our house on one weekend when we're both home and make you a meal. You saved our son and we're so grateful."

Mew wanted to scoff so hard but he bit his lips to stop himself. He has never eaten a meal they prepared.

"It's nothing ma'am,"

"Call me mom, Any trustworthy friend of my son is my son too and you've proved to be quite the best one."

They had met only twice before. When they broke down it was their third meeting and now they were already Bestfriends? He didn't correct them and neither did Mew. Gulf turned to Mew and said, "I'm gonna go now. Glad to see you doing ok."

Before he could turn to go, Mew grabbed his hand.

"Stay a bit longer please," he asked desperation heavy in his voice.

"Your parents are here to see you." Gulf gently said looking at Mew tenderly. However Mew's face was unsure. He felt safe being with Gulf than his parents. They never laid their fingers on Mew which was worst to him in his opinion. They were just never there for him. They were always busy and they only saw each other once or twice per week that's why it was so shocking to them that their son was being bullied.

"It's ok. You can stay, pardon my manners, what's my son's friend's name?"

"Gulf."

"Please do stay Gulf. We'll go and see the doctor first."

They left after Mew's dad said, "I'm coming back soon son."

They really seem to be nice people to Gulf but he still asked,

"Are your parents doing that to you?"

"They would die first before laying a hand on me."

"Ok great. It's not your parents doing that to you. I feel relieved. But you guys look so different," he casually mentioned.

That changed the mood right away and Gulf noticed.

"I'm just saying that you so look different from your parents. You are so pale and You look nothing like them."

"I know," Mew said with a sad smile.

Gulf noticed Mew was not enjoying the conversation so he said, "I'll come back to see you before bed time. Now I have to go see Faffy. I'm surprised she has lasted this long without looking for me."

"Faffy is your little sister?"

"Yeah."

"I wish I could go with you."

"No go ahead and rest. I'll stop by before the night ends to check up on you."

Mew teared up, "thank you. You have no idea how much I appreciate this."

"No it's totally ok." Gulf was really taken aback by how much Mew was moved at every small gesture he did.

He looked like someone who lacked love. And it spiked Gulf's curiosity. Just what was happening to Mew?

When he left Mew's room he asked his mother to go and see Faffy.

"She hasn't woken up." The mother replied looking so worn out.

"I figured," Gulf replied sadly. Otherwise they would've called him right away.

"But your father said she is going to be ok."

"I need to see it for myself."

"You need to stay in here longer." The mother opposed.

"No. I need to be discharged. I have to be there for Faffy." He insisted.

"Gulf,"

"Would you rather she starts panicking as soon as she wake up and not see me by her side?"

"But you need rest too. The doctor said you need at least a week of proper rest."

"I'll rest next to Faffy."

The mother proceeded to discharge Gulf against the doctors wishes. He was more concerned about Faffy. Faffy was more important than his life and the adults didn't realize just how unhealthy this situation was.
