It was around 3pm on a Thursday that they left for the hospital Faffy was held. When they got there, they saw the dad looking worn out.

He hugged Gulf and kissed his forehead fondly. "Glad you're ok."

Gulf smiled, "what's the update?"

"She hasn't woken up and I'm glad you're here before she could otherwise it would have been a hassle."

They sat down in the waiting room waiting. They were all quietly thinking and Gulf broke the silence when he said, "should I just stop going to school and watch Faffy until she gets better?"

"No Gulf. We'll try to get her all the help she needs. You'll be with her when you get back from school."

That topic ended.

They were dozing waiting when they heard Faffy calling for Gulf. He got up and headed inside the room as the parents called for the nurses.

"I'm right here Faffy. P' Gulf is right here."

"I'm sorry."

"You should be." Gulf was suddenly feeling angry, "That was not ok Faffy. What would I have done if you have left me? You know I can't live without you, why would you take my sister away from me?"

"I'm sorry p." She sobbed. "I feel so angry and so helpless,"

"I feel even worst but I'm holding on. I'm holding on the hope that it's going to be ok so why would you do that Faffy? In front of your p?"

She was now weeping, her left wrist bandaged, her fingers looking pale. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry p. Please help me. I don't know what to do with myself." She hid her face in her brother's chest wishing to hide from the world. To hide from her problems. To hide from the pain.

A Dr Ray stood with a bunch of nurses looking at the display and he frowned. He looked at the parents standing waiting by the door watching too.

It was an observation that the previous hospital ignored and rendered normal. It was not supposed to be like this, he thought, but he had to be sure.

He turned around to the nurse on his left, he whispered saying, "escort the boy out and leave the mom."

"Ok doc." The nurse went and told Gulf to leave the room. "We need to check on her please leave the room."

"I can wait here until you're done." Gulf negotiated.

"We only need the mother present." The nurse explained.

Faffy held on to Gulf's hands, "Please don't leave p'. Don't go."

Gulf turned to the doctor who was standing by the door hands folded watching, "I'll turn around if you don't want me to see something but I can't leave the room."

The doctor turned to the mother, "make him leave the room please," he said looking intently trying to get all the facial expressions.

The mother nodded and approached Gulf,

"Gulf honey, I'll stay with Faffy here, please go and wait with daddy outside."

"No. I'm staying with her."

"Gulf," she called desperately.

"I don't want her to start crying, she's going to be upset and you know it. I don't want that."

"Mummy will be here with her." She reasoned but Gulf insisted, "No. I'll stay here. You go wait outside."

The doctor scrunched his face watching the boy disrespect his mother. His eyes were so focused meaning he was so serious about this. The doctor turned around to a male nurse behind him and covered his mouth to muffle his words.

"Grab the mother, not too tight but enough to raise an eyebrow." He whispered and the nurses looked at the doctor confused by his request.

The male nurse came out from behind the group and went for the mother, he grabbed her and slightly pushed her towards the door. Gulf got up and held the nurse' hand holding her frail looking mother.

"Let go." He said, voice dangerous with a wobble in his step, trying to balance.

He was only 17 years old but his voice could send chills down an adult's spine.

"P'Gulf," Faffy whimpered and Gulf roughly removed the hand holding his mother's arm and went back to Faffy.

The doctor nodded his head as he glanced the father leaning against the wall unfazed by what's happening. He pointed at the male nurse and said,

"Call Dr Vera from the psychology department, family affairs and tell her we have a case for her to consult."

"Ok doc." Another nurse went away and the doctor stepped in the room.

"It's ok. He can stay. We'll check on her and also on him." He finished pointing at Gulf.

"Huh?" The nurse asked looking at Gulf.

"Get a bed ready so he can rest. Prepare a nutrient IV and modafinil normal dosage."

"Ok doc." Another responded and went away.

The doctor turned to the parents, "one of you can stay here and the other one can stay with the boy. Are you aware he is not feeling well?"

The mother stepped up, "Yes, he was just discharged from the hospital today because he fainted yesterday."

"Why did you discharge him when he was not properly rested?" The doctor stood straight hands in his pocket and the stethoscope hanging on his neck listening intently.

"He wanted to come and see his sister." The mother gave excuses.

The doctor chuckled in disbelief. This was seriously one broken family. "Meet me in my office tomorrow at 8am." He said reaching out to a nurse for a paper and pen. He wrote down a pass for them and signed it then he handed it over to the mother.

"Give any nurse this and they'll take you to me. Come with the boy too."

"Ok doctor thank you." She looked at the note and saw what looked like a pattern of waves written across the paper and a signature below.

The doctor proceeded to treat Faffy whilst everyone was in the room. He injection a drug so she could sleep some more and also give Gulf enough time to rest and meet.

As soon as he was done, Faffy was flat out and the nurses escorted Gulf to a bed nearby. He was put on an IV and got an injection to rest as well. The father stayed by Gulf's bed whilst the mother by Faffy's side.

Gulf drifted off.

In his mind, the promise he made to Mew.

A promise he was not going to keep.

A promise he should've kept.
