Mew felt his heart shattering into pieces.

Why?

Why did he have to go through all the pain? All the bullying? Why did they act like that to him? The questions were endless.

Was he really their son? But it didn't make sense. Mew didn't know who he was anymore or what was going on. He grew up being told he was a stranger and in a minute, this man had tried to convince him that he was family. Then did that mean his life had been a lie? He didn't know whose words to believe.

He had been feeling weak but he felt a surge of energy coursing through his body.

"I don't know why you thought that was going to make me feel better. You should've let me keep on assuming that I was adopted. Because that was easier. Because it made sense with the way you treated me. Why did you turn a blind eye when phi was beating me day in and day out? Why did you leave me alone in the house with that monster? Why did you let me grow up lonely not knowing what it feels like to be loved? Just tell me the reason why I had to live like that!"

The outburst was justified. He had so many whys and so many things to say, but these questions were enough for now.

The father only realized how his confession had complicated the issue but the truth had been said. He couldn't let his son think he was adopted no matter what the circumstance.

The mother stood behind just watching. It seemed she was unbothered by was going on. She was more concerned by the fact that Gulf was next to Mew. Why was he here? The last time she saw Gulf, she had tried to be nice since she wanted someone to be by Mew's side so she could go but now she couldn't hide her displeasure.

The father stepped closer, "I know I haven't been here for you lately but son,"

"Lately? Did you just say lately? Ever, father. You haven't been here for me ever."

"I'm going to make it up to you. I promise."

Mew looked away and ignored the father's promise.

"That is that," the mother came closer too, "why is he here when he shouldn't be."

"He is here to do your job mother please stop."

"Mew," the mother was surprised by the sudden bitterness in Mew's voice. He had nothing to fear now since he realized he was part of the family. He was their blood not just a visitor, not a tick but he belonged there.

"The fact that pa is surprised by the fact that Manny raped a girl means you kept him in the dark and fed him lies. Instead you shipped him out of the country and buried everything."

Mew's father turned to his wife, "you said it was only bullying." He confronted taken aback by the news.

"And that makes it alright?" Gulf questioned their logic. "My sister suffered a horrifying nightmare at the hands of your son and he must pay for it. But the next thing you know is you're suing me for assault. Just for a punch. Like your son should be receiving a death penalty then for assaulting his own brother,"

The father looked around confused, "suing?what is he talking about?" He posed the question at his wife feeling like he was being pushed towards the edge.

The woman moved her eyes suspiciously,

"What the hell is he talking about Linda?! Did you sue your son's friend for protecting his family and Mew too?" He screamed at his wife and used her first name.

"No he hurt Manny and he had to pay for it."

"Is Manny the only child you can see? Manny has been hurting Mew all his life and what? I warned you about what would happen if I see bruises on Mew again but not only do I see bruises but a broken skull. And what does the mother do? Have time to sue a victim's brother. Aren't you ashamed of yourself? Not even as a mother but as a human being with a conscience."

"I'm not-

-I'll deal with you at home." He cut her response and he turned to Gulf, "I'm deeply sorry for all this mess, I wasn't aware of any of this. I'm always occupied with work and I leave everything for my wife but I didn't know she was making things worse," the man apologized.

However, what Gulf needed was not an apology. He just nodded and turned to Mew. He leaned in closer and whispered, "I'll see you again, hopefully soon."

Mew shook his head denying the thought of Gulf leaving. "Please don't go." He requested.

"You know I can't stay." Gulf tenderly smiled despite boiling with anger inside, "Not when there are things to be corrected."

Gulf was turning to go when Mew tugged his shirt, "can we be together after things have been corrected?"

Gulf nodded his head with a faint smile. "I'll get going." He held Mew's hand and squeezed it gently. Letting go of Mew's hand was hard. It was as if both guys knew being together again was not going be easy. It was almost impossible with the situation at hand.

A lot had been done.

A lot had to be done.

Even as Gulf was leaving, it felt like a permanent goodbye.
