"W-w-Wait," Phin stepped in front of the detective to stop them. "You're arresting him for what?"
"He assaulted a person unprovoked."
"What?" It was unbelievable to the officers. Their son had done worse but what?
"There's even a video online, look it up if you're curious." The detectives carelessly stated and pushed Gulf towards the door.
The police officers were left speechless and the family was frozen.
"Did they seriously just arrest him for assault?" Sert asked flabbergasted. "How could they even think about that when they should be asking for forgiveness?" Sert felt like he wanted to laugh at the stunt this other family was pulling.
Phin knew this was the beginning of a FEUD between the two families. It was a war zone and Mew's family had attacked first instead of begging for forgiveness.
It was in that moment that Faffy realized what had just happened.
Gulf was gone.
Her brother was gone.
It didn't help that the person who had made his brother get arrested was the same person who hurt her.
She slowly breathed in and out.
Her vision blurred.
She breathed in and out again.
She felt it from her heart, that's where the build up started and it came up until exploded.
"PHHHHHIIIIIIIII" she burst out crying with the loudest scream and the police officers were startled.
But it didn't help at all. Because no matter how much she cried, Gulf was already gone.
Gulf sat in the back of the car, his hands joined together. His mind was blank. All he could think of was how Mew's family was the worst and Mew was not an exception. How could he have hidden everything from him? Ok forget about his brother being a bully, why didn't he tell him about his driver wanting to kill his sister?
If only he had talked about it, then they would've found the solution much sooner. It was as if Mew chose his family over Gulf. That's how Gulf felt in that moment.
But in the back of his mind, he still gave Mew benefit of the doubt.
They arrived at the station and Gulf was placed in the investigation room right away. He sat there nervously waiting. It was his first time being in such a place and to think Mew's family was responsible for this only strengthened his growing hatred.
Mew was oblivious to what was going on. He was there in his blankets when a soft knock came on his door and he ignored it. He was not going to open the door. His phone rang and he was excited for a minute until he saw his mother calling.
He answered the call,
"I'm outside your door please open. Mae wants to talk to you."
He ended the call without responding and the woman standing outside didn't have any idea if the door was going to open but she patiently waited.
It took a while for Mew to get up and when he did, he was feeling so dizzy. Instead of walking, he got on his fours and started crawling towards the door. Even like that, he still felt like he was about to fall. When he got to the door, he asked,
"Mae are you still outside?"
"Yes I'm waiting," she answered and the door was opened.
She helped Mew walk back to the bed and she tucked him in.
"I'm sorry he did that to you." She started as soon as they settled,
Mew did not respond. He put his hand over his eyes when he felt them restless. Something was wrong with him he could feel it.
Mew's mother took out her phone and placed it next to Mew's pillow.
"you still love your family don't you?"
"Yes I do." Mew replied wanting to get this over with so he could rest.
"And your brother too?"
Mew kept quiet.
"Honey we are a family. No matter how much we wrong each other, we still care for each other and your brother came to me crying asking for forgiveness and how he felt bad."
Lies.
Mew thought. Manny would never do that so what was she trying to do? He was getting stressed out and the ringing in his ears returned.
"How about your friend? Do you still love him after what he did to your brother?"
Mew had so much to say concerning that question. He wanted to spend atleast five minutes explaining to her how Gulf came first to him. How he loved Gulf more than anyone in his family but all he managed to say was
"Yes I love him."
The mother looked disappointed.
"So much," he added but his confession still felt weak so he went on, "no matter what he does to me, I'll still let it go because he comes first."
She felt repulsed.
"And your brother?" She asked,
"I don't care what happens to him." Mew responded and said, "if you're done here please leave my room. I would like to rest."
The ringing in his ears was becoming unbearable and then the headache started too. He could feel like his someone was hammering a nail on the side of his head. He groaned in pain and looked away.
The mother should've reacted to Mew's groaning or at least act concerned but rather she left the room with her phone. She made a phone call as soon as she left Mew's room, "please take care of it," she said and headed to her room.
Mew was suffering.
The pain he was feeling was overwhelming and he wanted it to end. He wanted to writhe around the bed to alleviate his pain but the rest of his body would not cooperate with him. It was also in pain of its own.
He felt his legs stop moving when he wanted them to and that's when he panicked. He didn't want to deal with possibilities of what was happening to him, he wanted the pain to end so bad.
An hour later, Mew's family gathered on the dinner table as Aunty served dinner.
"Where's Mew?" the father asked.
"Sleeping. I just talked to him a while ago."
"How did it go?" He father asked.
"It went well," the wife answered,
"Great. I still want to talk to him," The father stated and aunty was ordered to call Mew. She went on the telephone on the wall and disliked Mews room. The phone rang but there was no answer. Aunty headed to the room and knocked but still there was no answer.
She opened the door and was lucky to see it unlocked. Mew kept his door locked whenever everyone was home. She stepped in and saw Mew in his bed laying still. She approached him and stumbled when she saw Mew's state.
With shaky hands she called downstairs and Mew's mother answered it.
"Please come up and see your son."
Mew's mother ran towards the stairs and the father and the brother behind her. They barged in Mew's room and gasped when they saw Mew.
The white sheets and pillow case was spoiled with red blood. Mew's wrist was bloody and it was on his face. Dried blood was smeared on his face.
But what was disturbing was how his lips was turning blue and his skin was already pale.
