"Is that supposed to be a joke or what?"

"You realize how unwanted you are right? Even when I hit the shit out of you the woman never cared. Even when you almost died, she didn't care. Don't you think something is wrong? Do you even feel normal?"

Manny laughed enjoying watching Mew's troubled face.

Mew got up feeling so lost. He blurred all the sounds as he looked for the door. He wanted out.

He didn't turn around or pay attention to Manny screaming behind the glass.

"I'm not done where do you think you're going? Stop right there!"!He got up and started banging the screen,

"I SAID STOP. STOP RIGHT THERE. STOP BEFORE I KILL YOU! I SHOULD'VE KILLED YOU ALREADY."

The violent screams were getting out of hand so the prison guard came to hold him back. Manny retaliated and the whistle was blown. Three more guards came in with their batons ready to strike. They saw the boy screaming his lungs out trying to fight back. They surrounded him and started hitting him as if they were hitting a snake. Each took a turn to hit him until their wrists began to hurt and when they were sure he was not moving anymore, they stopped.

Mew had already left the room. He was now in the hallway on his way out. He tried not to think about it. He tried to shut his mind down but it was impossible. He felt like his mind wanted to remind him.

'You realize how unwanted you are right?'

Manny's statement started ringing in his head. He staggered and held on the wall as he tried to keep on waking straight.

Then the little things came to him one after the other,

'Why is he looking like that?'

He remembered his father asking after he had slapped Manny. He knew Mew was being abused but he didn't care.

He remembered the night his mother-

No.

-Linda came to see him to ask him about Manny. How she only wanted to talk about Manny and ignored his pain. The night he almost died.

Then he remembered all the time Aunty came to bring him food in his room. She never asked how he was feeling. She never sympathized. She never showed signs of pity. She never got involved.

Mew's nose started bleeding.

He struggled until he got to the door of the reception where the new driver was waiting for him.

It was just after he opened the door that his encounters with Gulf came back to him.

His mind went back to the hallway earlier that day when Gulf passed by him without acknowledging him.

Then it went back to lunch time when Gulf looked away and continued to eat.

Then it went to Gulf's house when Gulf looked at him and said,

'Get Out.'

Mew's lips and chin was now coated red. Blood flowing out dripping on the jacket he was wearing. His eyes started seeing doubles. He saw some people running towards him and two of them was his driver. His saw him extending his hands and Mew wondered why the gesture. It didn't take long for him to realize why. He landed on the ground as he tried to keep his eyes open...

Mew groaned trying to open his eyes. He saw he was in his room and wondered what had happened. He felt like he was carrying a heavy load on his shoulders. He went to the landline on the wall and dialed the kitchen. Aunty picked up and Mew requested some uncut fruits.
