That confession did it for Gulf. Is that why he was neglected and why he was being bullied? Because no one cared about him. Gulf hugged him tight not wanting to let go.
"I'm going to protect you from now on. I'll be your family so you don't have to worry anymore about being alone."
Mew lifted his head, "Will we kiss too? I really liked kissing you. You were my first kiss." Mew confessed innocently.
"You were my first kiss too," Gulf replied shyly his eyes looking everywhere but Mew. That's why he didn't see Mew leaning in and capturing his lips in a nice and soft kiss.
The rest of the week ended with Mew, Gulf and Faffy hanging out at the hospital recuperating. School stuff was emailed to the boys and that's how they didn't get behind with school.
Gulf was surprised by how Mew and Faffy got closer during the whole week they spent at the hospital. Gulf realized then that Mew was a soft and clingy person by nature. He was like a puppy and Gulf couldn't help but feel so drawn to him.
Faffy too was ecstatic to have Mew around. She liked the fact that Mew's parents spoiled her with a comfortable life at the hospital.
Gulf remembered Faffy conversing with Mew one afternoon,
"P' your house must be so big,"
"It looks like a castle. Right Gulf," Mew exaggerated animatedly and that took Faffy's interest.
"P' can I come to your house to visit you?"
"Of course, you can come with Gulf and we can do sleep overs together."
"P'Gulf P'Gulf P'Gulf I want to come too."
Gulf smiled watching the two being childish. He stroked Faffy's head fondly and replied, "of course you can come. But we need to ask our parents first."
This was the first time Gulf saw Faffy coming out from her shell. It was satisfying to see her smile and get giddy again.
Gulf's parents did not mind at all and Mew's parents were again not always there.
A year later, Gulf and Mew turned 18 years and Faffy was Fifteen years old. The bond between the three grew so much that they were inseparable. At school Mew and Gulf were in different classes and during their breaks they would be together. When it's time for going home they would go and get Faffy then go home in Mew's car.
The rides were so much fun but not for Mew. Uncle made him uncomfortable.
It started after Faffy confessed something to him during their stay at the hospital a year ago.
Faffy had something to tell Mew so she went to his room and in her way in she passed by Mr Granh as he was exiting Mew's hospital room. She was shocked why this man was there in Mew's room.
"Are you ok P',"she asked worried, hurrying to Mew to make sure he was ok.
"Yes I'm ok." Mew answered and he didn't miss the terror on Faffy's face.
"Why what's wrong?" He asked Faffy hugging her trying to make her feel at ease.
"That's the man who hit me with the car."
That had Mew pausing. As far as he was concerned Faffy had jumped in front of the car,
"He hit you with the car?" Mew asked wanting to understand.
"Yes p', I was trying to cross the road after the pedestrian crossing light went green and he intentionally hit me with his car even after stopping at the traffic lights."
Mew frowned. "Are you sure?"
"Yes," there wasn't many people because it was Sunday morning.
"Why didn't you tell them that when you woke up?"
"I was surprised that I was getting scolded as soon as I woke up for attempting suicide again. No matter what I would have said, no one would have believed me anyway."
Mew wondered why. Why would uncle do that? Could it be that Faffy was mistaken? But the look on her face showed how terrified she was. He asked all the questions in his head and still he couldn't find an answer to why the driver had done that.
Faffy told him that she didn't want to tell Gulf because then the man might get killed by her possessive brother.
He made a bad decision the moment he decided to keep his mouth shut. That's why Phin the police officer got stranded on the rape case for Faffy because there was no other lead except for the video of Granh and the boy.
He had gone to the school with the picture of the two but all they knew was the man and the boy they couldn't identify. They wondered if the boy had worn their uniform to commit a crime which the detective dismissed. The boy in the picture disappeared without a trace and that's how Faffy's case got stuck.
Aaron Granh ended up just paying a fine for hitting Faffy with a car and since he didn't have any history of reckless driving. In addition, it was his first offense which he owned up and took responsibility of.
Now one year later, everything was going well. Too well if you ask me. Mew and Gulf were in a relationship and Faffy was there with them, all better from the past incidents.
It was one Friday afternoon that Mew came home with Gulf and Faffy. They enjoyed the rest of the day at Mew's house playing around and having fun.
When it got dark Gulf and Faffy had to go home so they could prepared for Saturday sleep over.
Faffy led the way from upstairs and Gulf and Mew followed behind holding hands. They sneaked in some kisses behind Faffy's back and all the way down the stairs they were being lovey dovey. However, they were not aware of another pair of eye following their every movement.
Mew saw them out and Gulf and Faffy were escorted home by Uncle.
Mew closed the door after them and the happiness he was feeling was one he never wanted to end. He was about to take a step on the stairs when he looked up and saw his worst nightmare standing on the top of the stairs hands in his pockets glaring at him with eyes full of evil; letting him know he had witnessed everything.
Mew staggered back his heartbeat feeling like it wanted out of his body. He could feel his breath shorten and all his happiness being engulfed by darkness.
He could feel a panic attack approaching. He looked at the main door willing Gulf to come back and protect him but that wish vanished as he heard the monster take the first step down the stairs, coming towards him. The steps echoed in the lonely and suddenly cold house and Mew knew,
He was doomed.
